Swansea v Cardiff Sat 16 March 12:30
After watching one of the worst displays ever seen by a Swansea team (although the opposition were not much better), one has to wonder where we go from here.
The blame lays squarely on the shoulders of the head-coach, he sets the team up to play that way, he picks the team, he motivates the team (or not, as per the Bristol match), he watches them play walking football and subs players like for like to play the same way instead of changing tactics.
With great timing, all this comes just before the biggest game of the season against fierce rivals Cardiff. What the coach does with the players this week in training will define the outcome. Will he wake them up from their lethargy?
What is much more important than this match however, is that our Championship status is under threat. We have only eight matches left after the local derby to save our skins, presently we are only five points away from the abyss.
Cardiff come to us off the back of a win against high-flying Ipswich with two very late goals sealing the match after Kiefer Moore had put Ipswich ahead. Their tails will be up after that result and they’ll be confident of doing the double. They are ten points ahead of us and five places above us in the table.
Football is unpredictable though, especially local derbies, and I’m hoping that the players show some fight, win the match and restore lost pride in our team.
