Summer Transfer Rumour Thread

Valuing House is actually quite easy - what would missing his goals cost us? This year, probably the difference between league 1 and league 2.

It’s not only players at our level though. There are many established premier players who are marketed by the clubs when they only have one year left on their contract.

Chelsea have tried to avoid that by giving players 6 year contracts- and look at the mess they are in.

if a really difficult one for a club at our level. Three years is the maximum they can realistically offer without a big financial gamble. And that means to extend that contract you have to do it during year two - or the player will just refuse to sign and leave without a transfer fee at the end of year three- and most likely be given the avoided “transfer fee” by his new club as a signing bonus.

Bosman has a lot to answer for. So much money goes out of the game as a result.

Why does Bosman have a lot to answer for? Why should an ex employer be able to dictate terms (a transfer fee) for an employee who is out of contract? Why should footballers be treated differently to 99.9% to the rest of the population who have freedom to move between employers without the would be employer having to pay your now ex employer for your services?

Because it's a departure from the "good old days" when men were men, had a fag at half time, and had a job for life.

Hortin was just running through the ins and outs of what he and Hone thought would be leaving and he seemed to suggest that Sorenson is here next season.

So many factors and barriers to consider and overcome to land an established goal scoring senior player for the level. As is often the case we may well start in the pack of suitors but perhaps a three year contract offer for a 30 year old and reassuring him that the attack will be built around him and what suits his style of play, could get us into the race to the finish line for Stockton or somebody else like him

Main striker is one of the positions where the club may be prepared to step outside of the preferred model.

I'm not sure for example that Blackpool would give him 3 years or make him feel such a focal point. Then it comes down to other stuff like money and location. Let's see.

Would gladly take Stockton he's got tons of quality but we would have to change out style if we did, he wouldn't press like House does.

That's a good point, Stockton did look overweight to me last week. House presses while Stockton profits?
