Newcastle's Premier League season continued with a defeat against Stoke at the Britannia Stadium on Wednesday.

A late Stoke goal proved the difference with Newcastle, in a first game in 18-days since the hammering at Chelsea, beaten one-nil to remain in the drop zone with only the cut adrift Aston Villa below us.

With 10-minutes to go, in what looked likely to be a goalless draw, Swiss international Xherdan Shaqiri bagged his third-goal of the season when his 20-yard effort beat Rob Elliot.

The sad thing about it all is that the lad who scored should've been playing for us. Doesn't fit the transfer 'strategy' though.
