Squad: June 2024

I don’t see Eyoma pushing on from where he is now unfortunately; he never let us down, but has limitations, so if we want to challenge next year he needs to be offloaded.

I’d be very happy if TJ is offered a new contract.
He’s reliable and by all accounts shows leadership amongst the group.
Simply lost his place due to the run.
Can also play RB in a four.
Given that we’re unlikely to have 22 senior players, his versatility is a blessing. I expect he”ll not be short of offers elsewhere.

IMO there could be as much as 10 out of that list that could be released, sold, moved on. If we are going to improve the previous 2 years summer recruitment,we need to be ruthless in making the necessary room in the squad.

Long, Benn, Bishop, Montsma, Ahui, Smith, Brown, Walker would be my preference.

Certainly need more depth and experience in the squad. Cant afford to be putting square pegs in round holes and using inexperienced youngsters if we are serious about competing next season. Will be a stronger league next season.

When will we make our first signing?

Jez intimated that Scooby wants his key signings in the building sooner than later.

In previous years:

2023:
First (permanent) signing was Alistair Smith on 12 June.

2022:
Paudie O'Connor on 13 June.

2021 (Covid restrictions plus Michael Appleton's diagnosis):
Lewis Fiorini on loan on 2 July.
Chris Maguire permanent on 7 July.

2020 (Covid restrictions and uncertain budget):
James Jones on 6 July.

2019:
Joe Morrell on loan on 27 June.
Jack Payne permanent on 3 July.

2018:
Bruno Andrade on 24 May.

2017:
Sean Long on 29 May
(disingenuity alert: this is the date when Lincoln confirmed they had taken over Long's contract from Reading)
Matt Green and Ollie Palmer permanent on 26 June.

Actually, this post means absolutely nothing.

Sorry, I appear to have wasted two minutes of your time.

Totally agree, I reckon probably at least 8 out or even 10 as you say and a similar number in especially if we can make a decent sale or two.
