Sheff Wed v Swansea Fri 29 March 1500
It’s a resumption of Championship fixtures and an end to the International break this Good Friday to start the Easter holiday weekend. It will be the first of two matches in four days (Easter Monday, which falls on April Fools Day this year, we are at home to QPR).
Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough up first then, with both teams seeking the points to steer clear of relegation and both having seen an upturn in form recently.
Looking back over the last 8 matches Sheff Wed are a much improved team with 5 wins:
WLWWWWLL
The 3 matches lost were against the top three, Leicester, Leeds and Ipswich.
Ipswich put 6 goals past them without reply at Portman Road last match, Swans Academy reject Ali Alhamadi scoring two of them.
Owls manager Danny Rohl said after the match “It’s a hard defeat. We need to refresh our minds and face eight finals in the coming days, games we have to win, with no excuses."
Rohl was previously assistant manager to Ralph Hasenhuttl at Southampton and became the youngest manager in the EFL at 34 years old when he was appointed Sheffield Wednesday manager last October. He has a 40% win rate so far after 27 Championship matches in charge W11 D2 L14. The previous manager Xisco Munoz, appointed last summer, was fired after failing to win any of his 10 Championship games in charge.
The Swans, buoyed by their impressive derby win over Cardiff, will be endeavouring to replicate that fine form in their remaining eight matches.
