The point is,.. we were the better team on the pitch, and we were good enough… but not at the crucial time when it counted most. Today we were both cheated by the officials and just lacked that little edge in the place where it would hurt the French. Their goal was a good (slightly fortunate) goal and that fine margin is the difference. Today (as more often than not) it went against us. We should be resigned to it by now - that England will never win a men’s tournament.

I think getting to the Q finals was a decent achievement IMO. If you accept the point that we are 6th or so in the world rankings,then what do you realistically expect ? Getting to the semis would have been a bonus.
