There's got to be a place in midfield for Dean White. Absolute nutcase. He'd be sent off every game if he was playing today!
Other contenders: Simon Ratcliffe, Dave Shipperley - and Iffy was pretty scary when he lost it. I agree about Ken "clap clap" Price too...

Agree re: Dean White. Proper 'ard in midfield.

How come no one has mentioned Steve Bruce. I think he'd have mugged his granny if she tried to walk past him. And that nose! How many breaks?

Quite a few who would take no prisoners already mentioned - I remember Joe Jacques, George Ley, and Jeff Johnson all hard as nails.

Some "pussies" in there 66 compared to alternatives.

Dean White number one choice. Born on probation I think.
Joe Jacques a must. Also Ken Price and Dave Martin.

Other contenders are Big Shipp and Gayle (iirc - on loan when we went up circa '96) and George Ley.

Hess snr makes it for in your face irritating. Inused to love hearing Millwall fans moan about him in the days when we were their bogey team, especially as they had Dennis Wise.

Dave Mehmet was a bit of a nutter and had a temper too.

Others, Darren Carr and Dave Martin from our Pulis days were hard bastards as well.

Big Jim was.... well big but he wasn't very scary. Nelson ahead of him for penalty area shenanigans. Richard Green at LB perhaps but no way would Weatherley get in a scary eleven, one of the best ball playing CBs we've had. Alan Wilks had his moments Saunders & Joe Jacques definitely.

The problem with going back for defenders is modern disciplinary codes. Disregard that issue and Daqvid Quirke & Bill Williams come into play. Ken Price captain.

Derek hales looked like he knew people who could hurt you.

On a unrelated point just drove past burton stadium. Happy memories. Champions.

I think Shearer was pretty tough. Maybe he could be a sub.
