Ah, but that is what I'd enjoy tarzan, a) with the kids so you live it through them so to speak b) based around the family having fun, less commercial.

I think the commercialisation and greediness of christmas gets a bit exagerated by the doom mongers.

Christmas has always been a good time for retailers, hoteliers, pubs, resturants etc... but that doesnt mean that most of the people don't focus primarily on charity, family and children.

It can be a season of peace and goodwill as well as giving the economy a much needed boost. Just like all the other religious festivals, and traditions that take place all over the world.

You just made my point.

My family decided a long time ago to not make it about the gifts. The adults draw names and get one gift for who they draw with the limit being $50, but we all buy gifts for the kids.

Mr Siggy and I are starting new traditions with the girls when they get a little older and can understand Christmas. We decided that they are going to write their Christmas List but they are also going to pick out some things they want to give to someone less fortunate than they are. We are also going to volunteer with them from a young age so they grow up knowing how it feels to help the less fortunate. It is such a rewarding feeling.

Just because the media and society have commercialized Christmas doesn't mean you have to participate in it. So there. :18:
