Not a great spectacle, but the stats suggest Lincoln were much the better side despite the slow first half performance. Wigan were no great shakes, it would have been a travesty to have taken any points away with them. Good luck to them in their survival bid, they will need an awfully good transfer window on that evidence. City are up to second, averaging over two points per game and managing to win when not entirely on song. That bodes well.

Pretty fair summary on the OP, not the best day at the office but a win on performances like this is the bedrock of promotion bids.
Palmer - 6 in truth, nothing to do and wrong- footed by the deflection for their goal.
Gotts -7 best game so far, good getting forward tho crosses still need improvement. Looking physically stronger each match.
Montsma 6.5 - quiet day at the office highlight his right wing cameo.
Jackson 6 - unfortunate injury.
Edun 7.5 - generally sound defensively though a couple of positional issues, including goal? Terrific going forward, good control and distribution.
Grant 7 - poor first half by this season's standards but more involved 2nd, terrific free kick. Bad foul for his yellow, Jones kept him on the pitch late on.
McGrandles 6.5 - usual workrate but some poor passing, subbed for the decisive formation change.
Jones 8 - high work rate, couple of good efforts, helped lift the side to a scruffy win and MoTM.
Johnson 6 - talented and terrifies defenders, but decision making and maturity are the main elements of his education here.
Scully 6 - gone off the boil recently, needs taking out the front line for a few games to rediscover his mojo?
Hopper 8 - worked the Wigan defence hard throughout, looked better with the formation change. Made and took the winning goal superbly. A long, long way from Drewe Broughton!

Walsh 7 - solid throughout, better coming forward with the ball than Jackson.
Anderson 7.5 - once he got going, important and mature contribution including added time Rheady-ball.

Palmer 6 Spectator so difficult to give a higher rating.

Gotts 6.5 Decent in both halves but some crosses were quite disappointing
Jackson 6 No error in the short time he was on the pitch
Montsma 6.5 Did fine against limited attacking threat
Edun 7 Was our most progressive player in the first half and played well throughout

Grant 6 Cracking free kick which kick started our performance but some lose passes and nearly lost his head at the end
McGrandles 6 Fine if unspectacular
Jones 7.5 Worked his socks off throughout. Would have had a virtual open goal if Johnson had made a simple pass. Extra point from grabbing hold of Grant and getting him away from that late nonsense which could have easily earned him a second yellow

Scully 6 Things didn't quite come off for him, but lots of effort and persistence
made Hopper's winner
Johnson 6 Bit frustrating. Really should have put Jones through in the first half rather than going for goal

Hopper 7.5 Hard working throughout. His battling made chances for others and took the winner very well

Walsh 6.5 Very solid and uncomplicated
Anderson 6.5 Busy and managed to keep the ball for the whole of injury time which was impressive

Palmer: 6 Had virtually nothing to do all night, so can only be a par score.
Gotts: 7 I am impressed with him, but as a midfielder rather than a full-back. Time will tell, but he got forward very well and was playing as a winger at times. TJ must play RB against the better sides.
Montsma: 6.5 Par score again because he did not have a great deal of defending to do; however, an extra half-mark for helping to lead the charge forward late on.
Jackson: 6 Only had time for a par score. Hope he isn't too badly injured.
Edun: 6.5 A number of misplaced passes, he makes me very nervous as a defender; much better in the midfield area. Similar to Gotts in that respect.
Grant: 7 Would have been a 6 except for a brilliant free-kick. Overhit passes again.
McGrandles: 6 Right decision to take him off, he was not so effective tonight.
Jones: 7 Better tonight than his midfield partner McGrandles and would have had a goal if Brennan had looked up.
Johnson: 6.5 Needs to work on his awareness a bit, or stop being so greedy perhaps. Looked dangerous when he got the ball, Wigan hated his pace.
Scully: 6 Would have been a 5, but really came on strongly in the final 20 minutes and helped turn the game on its head. Gained an assist too.
Hopper: 7 Pleased to see him turn his work into something solid.

Walsh: 6.5 Not really in trouble at any stage, and almost scored.
Anderson: 7 Thought his arrival helped change the game, Lincoln started to dominate as soon as he came on; not through his pace, though - is he developing into a more intelligent player?
