So, the eight-game winning streak against FGR comes to an end, although the unbeaten start to the season continues to 4 games (5 including last season) and City are only 4 points from top spot. Two difficult away games coming up this week, but we have two more debuts today from Garrick and Vernam, and the squad looks larger. How much of today's game was affected by the weather? Is Mark Kennedy right to be frustrated? Which players failed to hit the mark?

................................

Rushworth - 7 Looks good. Confident and composed from the very first minute at the club and so was today.
Eyoma -. 6 Start reminding himself from his best times. Decent.
O'Connor 6 Solid.
Poole -. 7 Usual good performance.
Robson - 7 That's more like it. Good game today.
Sanders -. 5 Commited but not much from him.
Sorensen - 5 Same as Sanders. Not very good.
Oakley-Boothe - 5 Tidy on the ball but lacks something. Disappointing so far.
Scully - 6 Should have played on left from the start. Not bad.
Hopper - 5 Typical performance. Grafted as always but also as (almost) always wasn't much of a threat.
Bishop - 6 Not bad. Not great. Couple of good moments.

Garrick - 7 I definitely liked what I've seen. We were missing player like that. As it stands he is a starter on the right wing for me.
House - 5 Didn't bring much to the game really.

Rushworth 7.5 Solid, dominated his area.

Eyoma 5.5 Got forward a little better than usual, but looks so off the pace its frightening. Powder puff defending on the goal.
O'Connor 6.5 Did nothing wrong. Developing into a good partnership with Poole
Poole 6.5 As with O'Connor
Robson 6.0 A couple of decent runs forward, but I'm still not convinced for some reason.

Sanders 6.5 Did a decent job with plenty of effort and good set pices
Sorensen 7.0 Covered a huge amount of ground considering the heat. Not as creative as we need, but then that shouldn't always be his job
Oakley-Boothe 5.0 Should not have started.

Scully 6.0 Cannot play on the right. Much better when switched to the left
Hopper 6.5 Won a lot of balls played up to him with little support
Bishop 5.5 Disappointing for me. Not his fault he had to mplay out of position (again) until Garrick came on, but if he is going to be our creative midfield player we will continue to struggle to make chances.

Garrick 6.5 Did very well when he came on and will make that wide right role his own.
House 6.0 Did his best and hopefully will imprive the more game time he gets.

Rushworth 6.5 I like him a lot.
Eyoma 5.5 Lacking confidence and pace.
O'Connor 6 Steady.
Poole 6.5 Typical performance.
Robson 8 Best game yet by far.
Sanders 6 Average.
Sorensen 6 Average.
Oakley-Boothe 5.5 Can’t see why he started.
Scully 6 Still looks very short of match sharpness, unsurprisingly.
Hopper 6
Bishop 6.5

Garrick 7 Great debut that changed the pace of the game.
House 6

Rushworth - 6.5
Eyoma - 6
O'Connor - 6.5
Poole - 7

Oakley-Boothe - 6
Scully - 6
Hopper - 6.5
Bishop - 6

Garrick - 6.5
House - 5.5

Rushworth - 7 is excellent
Eyoma - 5 below par
O'Connor - 6 average
Poole - 6 average
Robson - 5 weak and poor passing
Sanders - 5 ran around a lot
Sorensen - 5 tackled well, passed poorly
Oakley-Boothe - 4 should not start
Scully - 5 not on form
Hopper - 6 tough day
Bishop - 5 started out of position, then in and out

Garrick - 7 looks the real deal
House - 5 huffed and puffed

This sums it up perfectly, bar Poole who I would give a 7. If Poole departs before the window shuts I’m not sure where we will be.

Rushworth 7 could do nothing about the goal
Eyoma 5.5 not his best game but really didnt deserve the jimmy walker diatribe
O'Connor 6
Poole 6
Robson 6 final ball needs to improve
Sanders 6 good when he gets on the ball - needs to be involved more
Sorensen 6 good energy, lacking quality today
Oakley-Boothe 5
Scully 6
Hopper 6
Bishop 6.5

Garrick 7.5 looks exactly what is needed
House 6.5 some nice touches

Rushworth. 6.5. Not many saves to make but handled well and confident with the ball at his feet. No chance with the goal.

TJ. 5. Ponderously slow at times, weak defending for the goal.

O’Connor. 6. Solid, won most of his duels

Poole. 6. As above

Robson. 5.5. A few good crosses but continues to struggle de fensively when up against a half decent wide man.

Sorenson. 5. Covered plenty of ground to cover in front of our CHs but his passing was poor

Sanders. 6. Decent set pieces but no one got on the end of any of them. Average display.

Oakley- Boothe. 4. Why?

Bishop. 5.5 victim of a stupid team line up. Showed flashes when back in midfield but faded badly in the heat.

Garrick. 7. About our only threat and looked stronger and fitter than most of our players.

House. 5.5. Ok ish but no real impact.

Scully 5.5. Another victim of a stupid line up, so much better when moved to the left. Major part in the goal and then subbed when there were more likely candidates.

Hopper. 5.5. Can’t fault his effort in the extreme conditions but how was he supposed to continue with the high press for so long. Shanked a decent chance with a poor connection in the 2nd half.

Whoops sorry wrong order.

Management 4. Poor team selection, made worse by poor and lack of use of subs on a scorching hot day. Totally out done by opposition manager who made subs who gave them more energy to finish the game strong.

Rushworth 7 best keeper we have had for a long while
TJ 5.5 looked slow lacking confidence, poor decision making
Poole, 7 best defender by a long way, can we keep him
Robson, 6.5 , good over lapping but wasted crosses, decent game
O'Connor , 6, getting better and more understanding
Sanders, 6 generous maybe, pressing game difficult in hot conditions
Sorenson , 6 as above
Oakley - Boothe, 5 lightweight , did not contribute, but picked up an injury
Bishop - 6, effort but no end product
Scully - 5.5, missing his spark of the first half of last season
Hopper - 6.5 ,battled away as ever, ran into the ground
Garrick - 6.5, flashes of good play, and only just arrived, did well.
House - 5.5, looked slow, but not given long enough to judge

Poor use of subs on a scorching day, Management seemed slow to decide what to do

Rushworth - 7. No chance with the goal, did everything else well.

Eyoma - 5. What's happened to him? Really poor in possession, weak defensively.

Poole - 6.5. Pretty solid.

O'Connor - 6.5. Same as Poole

Robson -5. Out of his depth when up against a winger that wants to run at him. Doesn't take responsibility with the ball

Sorensen - 7. Growing into his role, kept the ball moving, tried to get us going.

Sanders - 6.5. Similar to Sorensen. Starting to look more confident.

Oakley-Boothe - 4. Clearly shouldn't have played, doesn't look like the level player of player that justifies a loan spot.

Scully - 5. Can't seem to find his form. Little things just aren't running for him, confidence seems to be lacking.

Bishop -5.5. Best player on the pitch on Tuesday playing in his preferred midfield position, for some reason he was shifted to accommodate Oakley-Boothe. Got better when he moved back.

Hopper - 6. Worked hard for 70 minutes, should have scored at the start of the second half, that's the problem we have, Kendall probably scores that chance but can he do the physical stuff that Hopper does? Needed to come off earlier as was clearly knackered.

Garrick -7.5. Our only real threat. Direct and did things with a purpose.

House- 5.5. Looked knackered after 5 minutes!

Rushworth 8 Top man, reads game so well, best keeper for us for a good many years.
TJ 5 very poor, lost ball to many times
Robson 6 did ok must judge balls being played across, like Poole
O'Connor 7 will get stronger, decent game
Poole 8 Mustn't loose this guy my MOM
Sanders 5 ran around all over with no achievement, a decent left would make him a decent player for me
Sorensen 6 did ok as with most of players on a different day (cooler weather)will improve
Oakley-boothe 4 didn't do too much for me, was ill before game Mngr didn't know apparantly
Bishop 7.5 got a couple of decent shots in,will be a real danger for us this season
Scully 5 played out of position to start which affected his game, but getting back to his greedy ways. Showed what he can do from the wing with early ball in for our goal
Hopper 6 did ok for me with the weather as it was
Garrick 7.5 did very well for the time he was on the field, and from his interview after, had taken notice of things on field before coming on.
House 6 didn't have enough time on field, we will always see good from this guy given time .

Rushworth - 7. Confident, composed and assured. Great handling.

Eyoma - 5. Poor. Again. It’s very, very clear that his best position is CB.

O’Connor - 6. Did the basics. Heads and kicks it, but can’t say I feel confident when he has the ball at his feet.

Poole - 7. Didn’t put a foot wrong, but didn’t have much to do anyway so can’t score much higher.

Robson - 5. I worry for when he plays against the division’s best wingers, because he’s getting skinned by particularly average players at the moment.

Sorensen - 6. Tried to get us going and kept the ball moving.

Sanders - 6. Worked hard, but struggled to create anything on the ball.

Oakley-Boothe - 4. Not sure what he brings to the team. MK was evidently pissed off with him for not being honest about his illness.

Scully - 5. Complete waste on the right hand side. Marginally better on the left.

Hopper - 5. Thankless task. No idea why MK kept him on for so long when he was keeling over with 30 mins to go. That decision hasn’t helped his overall score.

Bishop - 5. Rabbit in headlights on the wing. Played better in his natural position (shock), but I’m still expecting a bit more from him to open up the opposition.

—————————————————————-

Garrick - 7. I liked what he was trying to do, but he really should’ve done a lot better with the two chances he had before half time. Was a nuisance, hence our goal being an error from their defender.

House - 5. Like Bishop, he didn’t seem to know what to do when he was on the wing. Showed some nice touches when he moved centrally.

Vernam - 4. Two touches and lost possession twice in 9 minutes.

Rushworth 7 - Good save towards the end of the game and overall dealt with any set pieces well. Comfortable with the ball.
Eyoma 5 - Poor. Not sure what's happened to him but he looks like he's someone who's been thrown into a season without a pre-season behind him.
O'Connor 6.5 - Not really tested but solid.
Poole 6.5 - As above.
Robson 5.5 - Decision making is poor.
Sanders 6 - Quiet game, didn't really get on the ball but worked hard.
Sorensen 6.5 - Broke play up well but let down by his forward passing.
Oakley-Boothe 6 - Anonymous. Not seen anything to suggest he's an upgrade on existing midfielders.
Scully 6 - Quiet.
Hopper 6 - Didn't envy him playing up front on his own in that heat. Not gettin players around him quite quick enough.
Bishop 6 - Better when he moved into CM.

Garrick 7 - MOTM. Injected some life and pace into the side.
House 6.5 - Showed some nice touches.

Rushworth 7.5- Made an excellent save to ensure we at least got a point.

Eyoma 5.5- He's not a right back. Not an attacking right back anyway.

O'conner 6- Did ok but I'm not yet convinced.

Poole 6.5- Mr consistant

Robson 5- Not good enough at this level. Lacks pace and not able to get down the outside of the opposition.

Sorrenson 6.5-Worked really hard, not as productive this week.

Sanders 6- put a shift in without really influencing anything. Put some good corners in though.

Oakley Boothe 5.5- Getting plenty of game time at the minute but will be the one who drops out when Mandroui is fit.

Scully 6- Average performance. Played out of position initially.

Hopper 6.5- Did what he did well but there was nobody playing off him so what's the point. He either plays with another striker or we find another way to play because when it gets to him or he gets a flick on it just breaks down.

Bishop 6- Did ok......When he played in his right position.

Garrick 7- Good first impression. Contributed and influenced the game when he came on

House 6.

Watched on iFollow today.

Rushworth: 7 Commands his area, comes for the ball, catches it, no chance with the goal. The best keeper we have had for years, was the victim of a dangerous red card challenge by Davis late on.
Eyoma: 5.5 Nothing like as bad as some have said, but he looks strangely unfit. Caught in possession a few times, but could the fault for that lie in a lack of movement in midfield and up front?
O'Connor: 6.5 Much better than on the opening day against Exeter, looked more like a L1 defender today.
Poole: 6.5 Did nothing wrong, did his job as well as ever.
Robson: 5.5 Tried hard, looks fitter, decent going forward, final ball lacking, not great at defending. Should have been sent off for a nasty petulant challenge.
Sanders: 5 Except for the set-pieces, he was absent. Having given him a great review for the Exeter game, this was the opposite.
Sorensen: 6.5 Ploughed a lone furrow up and down the pitch, repeatedly got back to cover for defenders, tried to inject some pace into the game; however, passing was either overhit or underhit. Looks the most likely member of the current midfield to keep his place.
Oakley-Boothe: 4 Completely out of things, and we later found out why; was unable to contribute, already had his hands on his knees after 7 minutes.
Scully: 5.5 extra half-mark for his hand in the goal, but that is about it.
Hopper: 5 I genuinely forgot he was playing at times. Ineffective, summarised by the fluffed opportunity in the 82nd minute. Too slow, his hold-up play literally holds the play up and drains momentum.
Bishop: 5.5 Getting booked in the first 15 minutes certainly did him no favours; playing out of position, simply is not a striker.

Garrick: 7 MOM Will worry defences with his strength and directness, although the final ball was lacking.
House: 6 Involved, but ultimately did nothing to affect the game.

A slow, cumbersome performance characterised by a lack of movement. Perhaps we can put it down to the hot day, but Forest Green look serious candidates for relegation even at this early stage and this should have been a comfortable three points.

Rushworth 7.0 - Good positioning and handling
Eyoma 5.5 - Not too bad, needed more options.
Robson 6.0 - Reasonable 60 mins, later torn to shreds by their sub winger.
O'Connor 6.0 - Fine when he has time, good heading, no pace.
Poole 6.5 - Did a job, commanding but a few longer passes went astray.
Sorensen 6.0 - Average, needed the belief he had at Portsmouth.
Sanders 6.0 - Would have been less if not for his set piece delivery.
Oakley-Boothe 4.5 - Lost and ill at the same time.
Bishop 6.0 - Never seemed to get fully into it after he was booked.
Hopper 6.0 - He works hard but there’s no one near him. Knacked after an hour.
Scully 5.5 - Ineffective early on, got a little better as the game progressed.

Garrick 7.0 - A revelation when he came on, added pace and skill, might have scored.
House 5.5 - New legs should have provided more as both teams tired.
