I doubt any of you are playing too closely to localised politics in the US, but California are currently voting on this following bill:
https://ballotpedia.org/California_Repeal_Proposition_209_Affirmative_Action_Amendment_(2020)
The main summary point is:
In essence, if it passes and becomes law in November, it would mean governmental organisations, education facilities etc could put up job adverts with requirements such as:
Women only / No Men
BAME only / No Whites
No Christians / Non-Christian religions preferred.
Members of the LGBTTIQQ2SABS community only / No Straights
As per the bill title, this is being proposed in the name of "Affirmative Action".
If passed this would enable the people in power to hire on the basis of identity factors, and therefore it would be easier to hit (unofficial) diversity quotas.
Question for those who think "Positive Discrimination" is a good thing, do you think the UK should follow suit and amended the Equality Act 2010 so that it is possible to have identity specific employment placements if it is done in the name of affirmative action?
