In season 1964/65, Chester scored 119 goals and conceded 81. A total of 200 goals in 46 games. Has any other team seen that many goals in season?

Despite scoring 119 goals they finished in 8th. Has any other team scored more and failed to be promoted. Perhaps SkellyImp might want to answer that one...

We drew 2-2 at home with them and were beaten 5-1 away.
 
Chester got those art an average of 2.587 over 46 games with 24 team in a division. Aston Villa scored 89 over 26 games and finished 4th of 14 at an average of 3.423 and conceded 56 goals in the process. That is not answering your question, but it is a comparison from 1891/92.
 
About 1957 Manchester City scored and conceded 100+ in Div One. The only time it happened in FL I think.

57/58 scored 104 conceded 100 finished 5th in Div One. 42 games.
 
I know only 8 games in but if you extrapolate our goals scored this season so far over a full season we're projected to end up on 120/121.

Be lucky to score 100 tbh

The headline quote on the Monday night's Echo back page was -

Yes Man City are the only team to score and concede 100 goals in a Football League season although Chelsea went close in 1960-61 when they let in 100 but only scored 98!!!!
