Pre-season games

Well that was bad! For some reason Boyata has so far been pushing VERY far left, that caused Simunovic to come over to the left to cover and suddenly a ball over the top meant both were WAY out of position and Lustig was fortunately covering well enough to clear it for a corner!

Great play from Tierney, getting high up the pitch, taking on the opposing fullback, chipping it to the back post for Griffiths who tries to head it back to McGregor but it's too far behind him so he lays it off to Lustig who hits it with his left and despite always going over, the keeper tips it over and we have an early corner which comes to nothing.
 
With Rogic in midfield, we're becoming a little overrun. Struggling to really get the ball down and play in the middle of the pitch. A good test for us though! Need to find a way to break them down, a different way than we are perhaps used to!
 
Rogic coming in for some tough tackles so far. They're not holding back!

It's a strange way they're playing. They sit very deep when we have the ball, but they hunt in packs and close down quickly. Really difficult to play against and really difficult to find space. We've almost played our way into trouble a few times by playing it back to the keeper but there's never really anyone free to pass it to.
 
Rogic with a shot from outside the box. Pulls it wide but it was an opportunity. We're getting some luck with Tierney getting down the left.

Through ball for Griffiths to run on to but it's a bit wide and he has to go back to Forrest who cuts into the box and tries a shot with his left foot. Starting to get going with our play now!
 
Was just going to say the same about the referee and these tackles. What's it going to take for him to do something? It's a friendly.....no need for it!

Great run from Forrest, takes on Flo the LB, cuts into the box before pulling it back to Rogic who's side footed shot is just tipped past the post by the keeper.

Craig Gordon in for some tough tackling now as he clears the ball after the Slavia counter attack!
 
Griffiths looking dangerous in behind, they're playing high enough for him to play that way, once we get the right pass to him, he'll be in on goal!

We've been fantastic considering this is only our third outing and also the previous level of performance in the last game. Just lacking a few goals.
 
I think Simunovic, given the opportunity should just absolutely go through one of these Slavia boys!
 
We'll get the goals. They aren't pressing the issue going forward. If we get a breakthrough, the game will open up.
 
I think it was a bit of both for Boyata. It wasn't a full on knock or kick or anything but the player seemed to almost force him to get his foot stuck and then it ended up twisting. Sviatchenko or McCart will replace him.

I would imagine that the vast majority of players will come back out for the second half and get another 60/65mins into their legs.
 
The Celtic management team need to have a word with that ref at half time. It's only a friendly if the ref keeps it friendly and this one has been piss poor from the outset.

That aside, we totally dominated and outclassed the Czech champions in their own stadium during that half. 69% possession ffs! Night and day performance from the last starting XI we put out. Think BR must have put a rocket up a few arses after the Rapid game.

We should be 2 or 3 goals ahead but that's the only negative from that first 45.

Good to hear Ajer doing the comms too.
