Police launch murder inquiry following Gedling attack

A murder inquiry has been launched following the death of a man in Wollaton Avenue, Gedling.

Officers are continuing to investigate what happened after a 22-year-old man is believed to have been stabbed and subsequently died.

Two men, aged 18 and 19, and a 17-year-old boy have been arrested on suspicion of murder. Detectives will continue to question them today.

Chief Inspector Kerry McLernon said: “Our specialist officers are supporting the victim’s family at this time.

“We would like to reassure the community that attacks of this nature are rare, and we believe this was an isolated incident.

“Increased patrols will be taking place in the area and anyone with concerns can contact us.”

Police are investigating an assault, which took place in Wollaton Avenue, Gedling, at around 10.45pm last night (Tuesday 11 June, 2013).

A 22-year-old man has died, after it is believed he was stabbed.

Three people have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

A Home Office post-mortem examination is to be carried out later today.
