Rumour abound that fans aren’t welcome this year. They were on sale the other day and have mysteriously disappeared. Heard from more than once person that only sponsors/commercial partners are allowed. Not a good look for the club if true.

I wonder if there will be a separate thing for the supporters at a lower cost.

I can't imagine that Galinsons would be looking to alienate the supporters by not allowing them at a player of the year event - not their style at all.

What’s the point? We’ll already know the outcome. Apparently it’s down to not having enough room because of prioritising sales of tables of 10, and you have to sponsor the table.

A big own goal if true.

It would be a own goal if they didn't do anything for the supporters. I just don't see that as being their style. The one thing they are not is tone deaf to the feelings of the supporters.

I would imagine there is a bigger demand all round due to the increased profile of GFC but of course fans won't be ignored.
Things are steadily improving at the club so folk that like still to have a pop are reduced to spitting out dummies over unsubstantiated rumours! CTFD.

All these rumours have a common theme. They give the SOB opportunity to say ‘this sounds like the work of Scally’.

- B team being scrapped. Scally’s fault.
- POTY do limited to commercial partners. Scally’s fault.
- Gates apparently 500 down on what they could be.

Nobody’s really heard from Scally for many months yet he’s still living rent free in a minority of people’s heads.

Personally nothing at all to do with Scally this for me.

I have wrongly been told the opposite to the truth by a few people (including the ME7 lads) who enquired to the club about tickets and the link has disappeared to buy tickets - which Joe has cleared up.

I was more frustrated thinking they’d gone against type and all the good work with fans - how wrong I was! I’ve apologised to Joe - should have known better here than to think wrongly of them, before asking.

Let's be honest the POTYD in its original form died a long time ago. Perfectly understandable that corporate sponsors expect access and that the club wants to oblige. In the old days players knew and socialised with fans through the supporters club and were happy to attend their events until he who must be nameless put an end to that.

A simple solution: allow the supporters club to run their own do and allow/encourage players to attend.

I have to disagree, last years one was excellent with a great mix of both types of people. Glad to hear that’s not changing!

Yep. As Vambo mentioned earlier tho, we now have a lot more sponsors, advertisers and executive box ticket holders who will want to attend now. And pay big money for the opportunity.

I’d imagine there will only be a few tickets left for “regular fans”. But that’s not a slight on them, simply the fact we are a lot more progressive club and tickets will be sought after. More good income for the club that multiple companies will want to purchase full tables at executive prices.

Not a great look for fans spreading unsubstantiated rumours just to have a pop at the owners either is it?
Supporter spreading unsubstantiated rumours that someone is spreading unsubstantiated rumours just to have a pop at the owners.

I’ll take my medicine and happily concede to Joe obviously here, but his reply does read that sponsors get first refusal does it not? So if sponsors buy the lot, i still read that as fans won’t be going.

Which I don’t believe has ever happened?

But clearly a very good by product of how popular the club is these days with businesses. This would never have been the case in the past.

The ME7 lads rang the club the other day and got quoted £1500 for a table and the need to sponsor an award. So this is where this has come from - coupled with the link to the tickets being pulled - it was possible to buy them online the other day. And it’s no longer there.

I’ve not spread bollocks for the sake of it. But now that he’s clarified it, I’ve happily apologised for any misleading that’s happened today.

One of the sponsors themselves has said today they were quoted £1500 for a table of ten, ie £150 each and politely declined the offer.
I suppose you can’t blame the club for trying to cash in but there is a limit to what people and companies will pay.
