First half was pretty poor, although we could/should have been a couple up at half time. They played us well, packed the midfield and were very solid at the back.

Second half credit to a) the team for sticking at it and b) Slav for making by and large the right changes.

Olsen- A solid 7.
Baldock-7 Defended well and tried to contribute as much as possibble going forward.
ND- 6. Made a few potentially costly errors but recovered well. Got forward a lot but most of that was getting in the way or slowing things down. Got a lot to learn but great potential and getting better all the time. Great physical strength.
Egan-7 Solid. Wish he would pass it square less and run not walk slowly forward when there is lots of empty grass ahead.
Davies-6 Pretty solid otherwise same as Egan.
Fleck-7 Was involved a lot and tried to create and drive. Looks to be regaining his Va Va Vroom.
Norwood- 7 Shit first 20 but got better and thoroughly deserved the reception when he came off.
Ndayie- 6 tried hard but this wasn't the game for his flicks and tricks. Correctly subbstituted for the match winning assister.
WG- 6 Bit disappointed. Went deeper and deeper as the match progressed. Want more from this undoubted talent.
Billy-8 Had a bagfull of chances but it wasn't to be...or so we thought. Great first touch when clear first half, shame about the finish. But hey. BILLY SHARP SCORES GOALS.
Ozzy-9 My MOTM. Covered every blade of grass twice. Covered every where. Ratted, defended, attacked, countless good crosses. What a heart and engine.

Subs
Mcb- 0 Pointless like the score. Played one nice interchange. Unfortunayely it was on the touchline just inside their half. Never where he needs to be and the most static striker at corners ever. Never gambles and attacks the ball.
Enda- 4. Disappointed he didn't overlap Ozzy a lot more. Hoped those 2 would destroy Derby when Enda came on.
Hourihane. - 6 Brilliant corners and good distribution from centre mid

Slav nailed it post match. We need to own the game more and absolutely close out tight games.

3 valuable points against a decent side.

Thanks SBT - thought you were still in Maj? Love Slavs refusal to accept our approach to games yet

Got back Thursday Aya. Off there again next Saturday for a week. Got a shed load of annual leave to use up. Sold a week back but ours runs Jan to Dec and dosen't follow the tax year. Off to Santa Pola November and Munich Dec. It's great there then. Really Christmassy with all the trad stuff not the plastic shit in this country and it's uncommercialised. Reminds me of happy Chrimbos as a kid.

Scary, the regularity in which we don't get shots on target,
It suggests poor decision making or desperation, shooting when the shot is not on

18 shots, two on target, one of them a penalty just isn't good enough

My opinion is that we're a long way from good enough as soon as we come up against average opposition.

We're having the ball now which makes a change.

But chance creation remains very poor and the fragility remains.

We did put a number high or wide. They also blocked a good number that looked on target if not goalbound. Don't forget they're fighting really hard and personally I give them immense credit today. Even at 0 0 at 90 mins they're shithousing was virtually non existant. Compare that to Norwich and Bournemouth who started in earnest 5 minutes into the first half.

11 in the previous 3 suggests we are going in the right direction. They need to pick the right pass going forward. Too many players are still playing Wilderball in flashbacks. Like it's been added to their DNA.

Peterborough and Hull are garbage though.

Preston and Derby are average and we struggled in both games.

Overall though it is fair to say we're heading in the right direction and looking far better than it looked like we might be.

From Billy and Slav's Radio Sheff interviews it sounds like Slav was satisfied with the result but not with the performance. It was a hard game because Derby, with the bunker mentality they currently have, came to sit in and hit on the counter with our slow switching of play not dragging them out as intended. Experienced old lumps like Davies and Jags excel in those circumstances.

Slav wants defensive players to be braver when it comes to carrying the ball forward, Billy said the manager will take responsibility if it costs us. This is the football Slav wants us playing, fast passing, players and shapes interchanging, confident, pressing - it's going to take time.

Boro will be a good test to see where we are.

It's important to remember many of our players are mentally fucked thanks to last season and I remember posting at the time as did others that they wouldn't suddenly revert to fearless champions. This is a long recovery process and the lack of funds available largely down to Wilders insane signings is another fly in the ointment. Slav is still deciding the best first 11 although he is getting there.
If Moose and Sander can return soon and stay fit we will be a very potent force. I'm way more concerned about the back 4. It looks like a car crash every time we are attacked. Plays way too narrow. Still prefer a 3 with Bash- Egan- Davies. Wingbacks don't mean Slav can't play a 3- 1 up top just means he loses one of the 2 in the 2. ie Fleck or Norwood. I'd lose both and the 1 would be Sander.

Went year before last at the same time. Stayed at this place.

https://appartment-munchen-isartor.topmunichhotels.com/de/

Fantastic location near Marienplatz.
Lovely apartments.
We did the whole Chrimbo thing.
Amazing food and music. Great markets and everyone in happy but not pissed mode.

Spared a special day to visit Dachau which is an easy reach by train. The buses in Dachau town are free to the camp and back.

All about opinions so someone reckons keeper hasn’t convinced me yet ball bounces off him too many times just hold onto it ffs
baldock fleck sharp ndiaye RND and MGW all under par today stand outs were Osborn (my mom) and Norwood (surprised he dragged him off) jags and Davies were immense for them till Davies inexplicably gifted us the points we were the better side but made hard work of it,take the points and get back on the training ground hopefully enda starts next game as he’s a big upgrade on RND who has been poor so far

opinions eh

Remember going to a beer festival in Dachau and drinking steins of Dinkelacker. Legs went one way and body the other. Next time I tried it was a bar in San Francisco called Heart Of Europe. Not the same. Beer syrup doesn't travel well.
