One down, now we NEED more!

Crewe signalled that much wanted and much needed win. League one survival is virtually impossible but getting enough points to start next season on zero for a change maybe not?

I know first and foremost ensuring that Portsmouth Football Club does have a 'long-term future' is what we need to almost focus on and get sorted out, and this still has to be viewed as 50:50 as happening at the moment, but we also need to have one eye on the future, by that I mean next season for starters!

Right, lets just work on the assumption that we will stave off the threat of liquidation for the purposes of this eh...

A 'where were you' moment occurred at the weekend when Pompey went to Crewe and finally won, won for the first time since October I think it was funnily enough the against Shrewsbury, which came the game after we had beaten Crewe at Fratton?

This win leaves us 11pts from safety; although with a 10pt penalty to come into place if/when we exit administration we are, in reality, 21pts from safety.

We are not going to get enough points to survive another relegation, so we will soon be going from league one to league two but going into the bottom tier of English football is something that we have to hope we can go into being on an even playing field...

Yet another relegation is something we could be looking right into the face of if we start league two on a –10pts start!

And starting with –10pts is something we very much look as though we will do, as the football league will carry this over into the next campaign if the outcome of those points will be irrelevant on the outcome of this season.

In many ways it does not matter what level Pompey play at, but I would sooner we stayed in the football league if possible – firstly being able to enjoy this, being able to focus on the football is what we all want! – and we have a better chance next season if we start it level on points with everyone else, staying up would be next seasons main objective, actually going up would be nice but lets not run before we can walk...

Having got that first win, can others follow?

Well they do say winning becomes a habit, so with Bury ay Fratton on Saturday next up we do have a chance, and then maybe two can become three and four etc. We will not get enough wins to stay up but the 10pts we are going to lose coming off this season that would be preferable to losing them next season!

As disappointing as it would be to see the loss of points again being the 'reason' of another relegation I hope we can get ourselves into a position where those lost points are what send us down this season and we do not go into next season on a yet negative points to start, being on zero for a chance when the season starts in August would be wonderful...

PLAY UP POMPEY!

One of the worst things about the winless run is that we have been beasten by just about everyone else who is liable to be near the bottom, several of them at home, so we have'nt helped ourselves a lot in any way.

that clearly hasnt helped us but is in some ways irrelevant really.

our season almost started on saturday, now i feel it is VITAL that we collect as many wins as possible and somehow manage to survive relegation - well would have, but then go down due to the 10pts we will lose, it will be MUCH better to lose them this season as oppossed to next season.

The most we can expect is to start next season level with everyone else I just hope it happens like that, but wouldnt bet on it.

As i always say i have not got a clue about the non football side of it
As far as i was concerned you lose the 10 points when you exit administration- if we exit next month,as planned? the points should come off then
Not next season !!!

I thought that deducting the points from the start of next season would only happen if somehow the club 'engineered' a situation where the decuction would be itrrelevant? The dreadful run we of results we have endured and the endless court postponements have been totally out of the club's control and as such it shouldn't be viewed that we have jerrymandered the situation to negate the deduction. Mind you, this is Pompey so would we be surprised if the FL gave us one last good kicking? :22:

again mart i hope you are right, and given the bollocks we have had to endure this season, with it HARDLY a fair fight to be fair, you would hope sense was seen and these points taken off this season?

i fear they will be rolled over the if taken them off this season doesnt impact on our fate...

it would be nice if the football league clarified this point wouldnt it.

As we have reportedly been working closely with the FL and following all their advice, I just hope they dont dream up a few more reasons to take even points off us before next season even starts. :81:
