Good Morning Thread

I had you down to someone more like Captain Mainwaring from Dads Army !!!! :ban::spam::ban:

What’s even weirder is that I always had you down as being more like Captain Mainwaring from Dads Army !:help:.
would you care to give us some more quotes from your alto ego . !!!!! I can think of a few !
Funny or what !
what other characters can you liken to the posters on .here ? You’ve got a free shot at me now Nick . Fill your boots .
Greavsie I’ve got down as Roger Moore’s James Bond !
Ex I’ve got down as a lookalike to Robert Redford !

Hod as Sean Connery !.........
hope you are all well ,.
I’m very busy again today , not enough hours in the day this week . The bathroom planning has been put on hold until Friday . I need to get in there and investigate behind the toilet pan to see where the soil pipe runs from and if I can get the new pan back closer to the wall.,I’m sure you all share my trepidation !
. Exciting times !!!! !!! It’s all boxed in at the moment and tiled over .,takes out a lot of room in there.

It’s what I call “dank “ outside today . Dismal .
Allotment is taking a back seat as well , although I need to get up there to prepare for winter . Leeks are looking good .
I picked the last of my apples yesterday . They have been great this year . My only failings were Broccoli which constantly went to seed , it was too hot for it ,.... and the cabbages got trampled and ravaged by badgers , bastards !
Oh well , if that’s my only problem then it ain’t a problem is it . Worse things happen at sea . ..... and land these days .
any way , gotta go , things to do , got an important health and safety meeting today , lucky me!
stay safe , keep aware , don’t let get complacent .
have a good day
A few years back when my mate Paul and I remodelled my main bathroom, er indoors as was wanted the toilet moved to a new location...having decided the new location we went looking for a length of white waste pipe...we tried B&Q and other assorted DIY stores but none of them had any white pipes...finally went to a specialist plumbing store and asked for 2 metres of white waste pipe..the guy behind the counter laughed and said We haven’t got any in white only black...I’ve had loads of people asking for white this week but there’s just no demand”....just saying....

John le Mesurier ....... is that the best you can do . Ha ha .
He is about as far away from a cockney , ducking and diving, East London knob head that I can imagine .
Im sure you can do better than that . And I won’t take it personal and repeat verbatim the script from Sexy Beast :wahey:

I think the old guy with the MP helmet was Cockney , he was a green grocer though which fits my profile.

I think it was Walker that also had a Cockney accent, always had a fag in his mouth. I cant remember what job he had. I picked Le Mesurier because he had a head for figures being a banker, yes I meant banker !! I know you like your numbers and maths Walt. Capt Mainwaring had a northern accent if I remember and I am an Essex boy.

So about Track and Trace......personal experience.

Scenario....
We had to go to look after my grandchildren as my daughter was moving house. We stayed 3 nights 4 days with two kids under 10. My daughter and her husband left immediately we arrived with the two teenagers to clean and paint and prepare the new location before the removals were done so we complied with 6 rule indoors.

Whilst there all we did was take the two little ones on their bikes/scooters to the park every day and socially distanced/exercise and fresh air.

So we eventually returned home. a day later an alert came in on both our phones to say (can't remember the esxact working as the alert did not hang around on our phones once we had read them) . Same message to both of us.....you have been in the vicinity of someone who has tested positive for Covid. We have carried out a risk assessment and you need take no action at this time.

So
1. Has scared us...we are hoping no symptoms develop so are sitting very concerned now/on tenterhooks to be fair - almost like being told to self isolate.
2. Why was that person not self isolating and will they trace him/her and fine them (who knows)
3. Why did the message not give even basic info e.g what postcode we were in or date and time of the trace? Then we could have known where we were at that time. Talk about being left in the dark.
4. The system seems so basic and unsophisticated.
5. What form does their risk asssessment take?
6. Was the message even from the NHS track and trace seeing as it disappeared so quickly..i.e a spoof?
7. In the NHS system there is no reference to us having received any communication. Well I can't find it.

So if it is a spoof what happens if it were to state ...blah blah self isolate for 14 days - do you blindly follow that message?

Any one else had this or similar experiences?

Morning Greavsie.

Yep I had the same experience. Mine was going food shopping. So I have since deleted the APP. Total waste of time.

How “they “ can do a risk assessment is beyond me . Does the app measure how close you were . Where you were , how long you were ‘close’ for .
How is that any help.
what’s the point ! May as well not send the message as far as I’m concerned .,
Feel for you mate

Morning all . Kin raining today , what’s that all about?
lucky I haven’t got to go out today . I pimped myself out yesterday doing a health and safety exercise for a mate who owns his own business . Landscape Gardener with six employees . Really interesting day . Weather was lovely . We were out and about for hours.
Haven’t done that sort of thing for about six years .

dustbin day today , now that has always worried me . The dustmen go from road to road , house to house touching everyone’s dustbins . Who knows what is on them dustbins Covid wise .

hope you all have a good day , I’m doing bugger all today . Was going to the allotment , but not now as it’s raining . Nothing up there that’s that important .
keep well , keep safe , keep worthy . Don’t let the buggers get you down . Hope you are all ok up north , Harry ,Critical and anybody else . It’s all a worry .
Is anyone else in a “bad “ area . London ain’t doing that well.
What’s Kettering like Nick ? I suppose it’s all a bit hit and miss . Big towns can be bad whist villages are taking all the precautions and are clear of cases but they all get lumped together .
We seem to be ok down here on the south coast ........ At the moment !!!!!
Don’t get complacent .

Kettering is Medium alert level Walt. Its pissing down here today which is not good for business. I sold a few things yesterday including a Picasso lithograph from the 1960s which I mentioned the other day. But today's weather will dampen down the customer count for sure.
So a job for Uncle Arthur as Pike would call him. I can just see him foing a safety assessment !!
.

Bad news up here...heard yesterday that the Chippie has closed for two weeks due to one of their number having tested positive for the bug...that’s screwed up the highlight of my week, but mainly I hope they all come through it ok....best fish and chips for miles with an online order and pick-up service...

Other than that no real change since we were elevated to level 2.... I’m just outside the Greater Manchester area but my lad lives a couple of hundred yards from Old Trafford with his 4 kids...he says they are coping ok...I’m just hoping his job doesn’t disappear in this mess.

I think if we are going to allocate people to tv characters we should use ‘Allo ‘Allo...read this very carefully...I have written this only once...

First real post on this thread. Just a heads up guys to you and your family. My wife came to me in a blind panic this morning. She had had a call on her voice mail telling her to contact a certain number otherwise a National Insurance fraud that she was involved in was going to be progressed and she can expect the police to arrive shortly to arrest her. I told her it was a scam and indeed when checking online I turned up something similar about a HMRC based fraud and people being duped out of thousands of pounds.
So guys just be aware. Never know when these twisted creatures will strike or how.
Keep safe and alert.

good post 54 , we need more of these sort of posts .,ta mate

My anti - scam/cold call strategy is simple.....do not trust anything....listen then investigate thoroughly and check all credentials and then tell then to fcuk off, Never ring back, never give any real details. initate calls don't trust 'incoming' cos it is a bomb or shell!.

I actually enjoy winding them up before I block the number.

Cold sells oh great I was thinking of getting that or switching what a good thing you called today ...blah blah then when of they ask if you are the householder you say nah I'm here fixing the bog..

Giveaways ...
Sir I am making a courtesy call....Scam / cold sell
Good day sir how are you today...Scam / cold sell
I need to check your computer...SCAM
Please call us back or your internet will be terminated - SCAM

We have all had these types of call have we not!

If I have time, then I enjoy the game and my advice is to never get annoyed I lead them on give them a load of random numbers if they ask for card details, any bank, any sort code I make. up And then I say good feckin luck using that mate.

...of course if I am busy ....I put the phone down and block...bet you all do the same.
