Nitpicking, but "Tom Eaves has continued his good form for Gills, picking up where he left off at the end of last season to score five goals in his last two starts, including two in last weekend’s win over Burton Albion" - he didn't start the game against Burton Albion.

Don't think so, if you're talking about player appearances, you tend to hear "X starts plus X as a sub".

In any case, if coming off the bench did count as "starting from the bench", then they'd have to count the Accrington game as he came off the bench there too.
