I like the idea he's tired from a newborn and the Cowley's have had the good thoughts to rest him on the bench.

We may still need him if Akinde is injured so on the bench but I doubt we'll see him today

Maybe Danny has made these changes for tactical reasons, irrespective of what he has said about injuries? O'Connor is a former Vale player, so perhaps would have got too wound up; Vale would have laid their plans based upon Akinde playing, not Rhead; and Vale whack the ball long down the middle, which City are countering through a third centre back; who knows?

No I trust DC, and he played O’Connor in the cup against them so I think he would have trusted MOC. Vale don’t have Pope so I wouldn’t expect as many long hoofs up the middle as they don’t have that target man. Our counter to them is more likely Wharton to add a bit more covering pace.

You never know how much other teams know of injuries in training so they may even have expected Rhead. I did some posts here saying Rhead would start this one.
