The first sentence from today's programme:

"Cheltenham arrive at the LNER Stadium today as we head into the final furlong of the season, but while both teams competing today will reconvene in Sky Bet League One next season there should be no thinking that today's game has nothing at stake."

I know we are in a good position to retain our League One status, but, FFS DON'T JINX IT!!!

We would be🤞

From some rough back a packet of cigs calcs says that we should only need 2 points (two draws) to have enough points to stay up, on the assumption that all the teams below us win ALL there remaining games, and that includes Fleetwoods game in hand.

Although 3 points today is the easiest route.

Yes please!

Gillingham’s poor goal difference means they realistically need to win all 3 games to overtake us, even if we lose our last 3. Gillingham play Fleetwood today so Fleetwood then need to win all their games, other than today v Gillingham, to overtake us.

And Morecambe would also need to win two of their last three games to relegate us, all while Lincoln do not pick up two points from their remaining three games. One of those things may happen, but not all four.

Gillingham must win all 3 of their remaining 3 games to overtake us, but, as they play Fleetwood today, that would leave Fleetwood needing to win all 3 of their remaining games if Fleetwood were to go above us. Fleetwood having an extra game to play muddies the water. Ideally, Gillingham don't win today and, regardless of our result, we would be safe. Gills maximum points total: 48; Fleetwood: 50. That's how I see it.

And they all have some seriously difficult games:

Morecambe
18/4 PORTSMOUTH (H)
23/4 MK Dons (a)
30/4 SUNDERLAND (H)

Gillingham
18/4 FLEETWOOD (H)
23/4 Portsmouth (a)
30/4 ROTHERHAM (H)

Fleetwood
18/4 Gillingham (a)
23/4 AFC WIMBLEDON (H)
26/4 SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY (H) - their game in hand
30/4 Bolton (a)

Weird season this year, it's going to be a low total for safety and a high one for PO's - 75 normally gets you there and it's already at 76 with three or four to play.

A clear sign for the split in the league.

Our 77 points from last season would see us finish 8th or 9th this time.
