To be honest I think it's a matter of personal. We don't have all the specialists required to play the formation at the moment. For me you need either a pair of specialist wingbacks and / or a couple of of very flexible centrebacks who can combine the centrebacks and fullback roles effectively.
I think we had the players that could have done that during the Kranky era ( but he preferred to go 4231 counterattack mostly because of the flexibility of the formation)
I think if you play it with specialist fullbacks rather than midfielders it can result in very flat, defensive performances.
I agree that it would be good to see us playing a 352 though - it was the formation I used to like playing in the most.
The thing i used to enjoy as a player playing in a 352 was how you could use possession to force their players out of position and create space, but (in my experience) that only works when you have the players who can put in the shift and have the technical ability to play that way. It's very hard to play a good attacking 352 without all the pieces in place though.
He's a strong runner not a quick runner and never crossed a ball in his life I bet. He's more a centre half than a winger, not that we've ever found his head with a cross :)Probably cos switching would see us lose a number of games before getting it right. I dont think grabz is a wimp but i also like 352 at home. Having said that we pressed very well yesterday and there were times when they could not get past murray and krovz.
In the system we currently play i would put him on the wing.
I don't disagree, I would love us to adopt a formation that encourages passing and putting the opposition on the back foot. 352 can be the perfect formation for that.Well, personally I think we have the pieces, where it really counts, .i.e 3 good centre halves all season.. Defend the 6 yard box, even ribz n cc further being up the field, seems like wed playing further up the field instantly and lets face it, we really need to learn how to play in the opponents half more, we drop deeper and deeper and get less and less pocession. Also players like Blacket who CH seems to like could play it perhaps.
With the centre halves, Mckenna and Woz both like playing on the left and why Figz stays in there as the right sided one. If we did go 3 it would be interesting to see who be the centre one. Whilst Woz is captain he prob has more pace than Mckenna so I imagine he'd be on the left..
Either way, it would at least be nice to have seen it the last few years when we always play a lonee striker and never score enough goals. Its kinda black n white for me in that sense so its more about attacking than defending anyway for sure
I'm not negative about everything and it's none of your business even if I am. It doesn't require your running commentary. If you find my opinions so offensive, it's a lot less hassle to put me on ignore rather than stick your oar in and have half your postings about meBecause you are so negative about everything. The possibility that you don’t see it is interesting. It’s not an attack. It’s a passing comment. Takes all sorts.
Re discussion Grabz or Taylor? See Grabz needs a week rest, has a twinge on hammer string. Taylor holding back at end of game. Back injuries are funny things. Murray to play Tuesday. Out for Friday. Cafu starts in false number 9 role v Derby.
