Match Thread: Carlisle United v Lincoln City

The game was more difficult than it could have been. Really we should have capitalised on our complete dominance in the first 25 mins. We let Carlisle in to the game but they didn’t look threatening until the 2nd half. Carlisle has to push on and had nothing to lose so not surprising they had chances.
Carlisle are no mugs. They beat Pish 3-1 last game and held Stevenage the one before.

Made heavier weather of that than we should have done, the start to the 2nd half in particular when the 2nd goal was a welcome relief. Feared the worst after they pulled one back but the game management was excellent and Bishop's goal a well deserved icing on the cake. Has Rheady been coaching Draper and Makama? Their ball retention, etc was exemplary.

When we get the ball moving we look really, really good, Bishop and Erhahon superb at times.

Big shout out for Jordan Wright coming in at short notice and made 2 crucial saves and did everything else, well, right.

In his pre match presser Skoobs said they needed to take every game has it comes. And that some games might be scrappy etc.. but it was about finding a way to win. I would argue Friday and today are prime examples of that and the fact that Skoobs has instilled that will to win in every player.

First 15 and last 15 won us the game. We struggled in between, but we defend so well that we are capable of getting through bad spells in games.

The blocks we got in inside our own penalty area today were exceptional, especially the first period of the second half when we were under a lot of pressure and were really struggling.

Bishop disappeared a bit during that middle period, but had an excellent game overall. Erhahon was star man for me though. We need him playing every game to put the icing on this amazing run.

Wright did well - he really is a very good keeper. Just unlucky to be behind a really excellent keeper in Jensen.

As others have said, cudos to Makama and Draper who did very well in the last ten minutes to kill the game.

Excellent result in a banana skin game, and three different types of goals by the sounds of it - well worked move, a counter and a set piece.

This'll twist and turn a bit yet, especially as Oxford have Posh, Stevenage and us in consecutive games.

Another win while not being at the standard of our recent performances. But another 3 points. Thought we played excellent first and last 15 mins. 3 really good goals and so pleased with the performance of our own young forwards who came on towards the end. The future looks bright.
