It's The One That You Want
The hunt continues for the elusive and exclusive trophy, which basically is just a knock out competition and does not always in the end leave the winner as the best team in Europe, but that is what they claim and we want to win it and join those elite clubs in the UK who have already done so.
City take on Borussia Dortmund this Tuesday in the 1st Leg and we need to score goals and keep a clean sheet, hard especially as they have the arguably best striker in the world Haaland, who is not coming to City in the Summer because we cannot afford him. We are told that Jadon Sancho will not be playing in this leg due to injury.
The German side have also enjoyed a successful Champions League campaign this term, having lost just one of their eight games in this season's competition. They come into the quarter-final having defeated Spanish outfit Sevilla, 5-4 on aggregate in the Round of 16. On Saturday, they were beaten at home by Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga. Natalie Pike will be joined by former City teammates, Paul Dickov and Andy Morrison for our We're Not Really Here matchday show. The show will begin just over an hour before kick-off at 18:55 (UK), and you can tune in to hear expert opinion and analysis from the City pair ahead of the game.

City Team News
The squad returned from the International break luckily with no injuries to report and Pep Guardiola whilst having a full squad to call upon in our pursuit of our7th top flight title and our 5th Premier Title he chose a squad that was relatively fresher for having not played as much for the Leicester league game, which was unjustly criticised by a few fans but in Pep We Trust. I expect Pep to be selecting his best squad for this game to take a good lead into the second leg.

This is the last line in a piece by Raphael Honigstein for the Athletic yesterday.....

"If they play as poorly against Manchester City on Tuesday as they did against Eintracht, their involvement in Europe’s top competition will be over before the second leg has even kicked off".

:hmmm:

This is from Pep’s press conference and highlights the difference between the media’s incessant pursuit of the cult of personality and Pep’s footballing philosophy -

"Football is a team game, everyone contributes. It's not just one player."

I bet it is doing some media type’s heads in that ‘Money Bags Oil Rich City‘ aren’t slathering to splurge such an obscene amount of money on one player.

My local forecast is sunny until midday, then cloudy, clearing for kick off, and a high of 2 to 3 degrees, and below freezing overnight.

Pep has now come out and said, presumably because his employees don't want to be thought of as paupers or tightwads and have reminded him as such, that we could spend over £100m if we chose to. Which we might do, but only if we want to. Isn't Haalands' agent the same as Pogba's? Give him an open cheque and a place on the board and tell him to keep his voice down. C'mon City, splash the cash, you know you want to!

I am sure all City fans will spare a thought for Pep Guardiola tonight as today marks the first anniversary of the passing of his mother Dolors who died last year after contracting Covid19.

The BBC rolling article on the Champions League is clearly being written by a dipper as it is heavily slanted with comments about the side that has just surrendered the PL title with the most pathetic whimper in the history of the competition.

As at this time there are lovely graphics of the dipper and RM team sheets.......but for City and Dortmund, they don’t event provide full details of the teams only the numbers of changes from the side at the weekend.

The details are there now but they took their time.
