GOAL! Man City 1-0 Everton (Haaland, 71)

CITY FINALLY BREAK THROUGH!
It was from a second, follow-up corner that the ball eventually broke to Haaland at the back post and he HAMMERED the ball past Pickford. The keeper gets a touch but there's no stopping that shot!
Stones had met the corner and there was a scramble before Branthwaite hacked the ball in Haaland's direction... and he gobbled up his first goal since late November. City's first shot on target.

GOAL! Man City 2-0 Everton (Haaland, 86)

AND THERE'S ANOTHER FOR CITY'S STRIKER!
What a goal this is!

De Bruyne feeds him but then Haaland just POWERS Branthwaite to the ground before converting his one-on-one with Pickford with his left foot.
Sweet 16 for Haaland. Game over for Everton.

FULL-TIME

Man City 2-0 Everton
All over in Manchester.
Erling Haaland's double on his 50th start in the Premier League gives them a comfortable win over Everton.
City go one point clear at the top of the table for at least a few hours too.

Man City 2-0 Everton

FT: It took City a long time to get going in this one but Haaland eventually broke Everton's resistance and then sealed the three points with a second which illustrated his qualities, powering past the otherwise impressive Branthwaite.
Over to you, Liverpool. City go top and it's now up to Jurgen Klopp's side to respond against Burnley.
Meanwhile, Everton remain locked in the drop zone - and will fear Luton could open up their one-point advantage when they host bottom club Sheffield United this afternoon.

This is work mode for City, they slip into their groove. There are trophies at stake now and Man City are ticking into their rhythm.
I think it is brilliant that we have a three horse race and it is a genuine race, but for me Man City have run this course before. Seen it, done it, got the t-shirt and I just can't see past them in this form.

Erling Haaland, what a return for him. Two unbelievable goals, he showed the real quality that he has. He just came back in with such drive and energy and that first goal, a bullet finish, just set Man City on their way.
At this stage of the season we know City have that ability to go on these long winning streaks, their home is a fortress and with all of their weapons on the pitch and firing they are going to be hard to stop.

Everton did a really good job keeping us at bay for such a long time but their blatant time wasting and tendency to fall over was very annoying. In the end Haaland’s quality finishes got us over the line ably assisted by a superb assist from KDB for the second to settle our nerves.

JOHN STONES ON TNT SPORTS 💬

Hard fought?
Definitely. We’ve had some tough games against Everton home and away. So to get three points in the fashion we did, clean sheet as well, was really pleasing. Especially after the first half which was so difficult for us to find spaces and chances. For the second half we tweaked a few things and ended up with the win.
Was patience the key?
Yeah, it is. We’re used to playing against a low block. We’ve been in this position so many times now, patience is a massive thing for us, to keep moving the ball and to not get frustrated, and trusting in our game plan, which is what we do. We changed a few things which helped massively. We opened up the game and took our chances.

JOHN STONES ON THE CLEAN SHEET 🗣

Really pleased. Our mentality never changes. Football is so difficult and there are so many different variables. Our mindset is always the same, we go into the game wanting a clean sheet. We work hard on the training pitch to get a clean sheet with how we set up and work for each other. Sometimes, football means we can’t stop certain things but today was one of the good ones. Hopefully we can keep that going.

Manchester City
Manchester City goalscorer Erling Haaland speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "Yeah it’s good feeling and even better to win.
"We always work hard as a team, so a fantastic performance, it was a difficult game and good win. A lot of games people will try and destroy our game, but we are a good team so it is difficult to destroy our game. A good win.
"We’ve been on good run, I think that’s 10 in row in all competitions. We're doing quite well. It’s is a good thing."
On whether he is 100% fit: "Yes."
