Line up vs Bristol Rovers

I see what your saying, but do you remember Callum Davies? He played well on his first few outings but now plays for Folkestone invicta.
Another point is that Evans is meant to be a good coach .If he can't turn a lad like Tucker into a first team player then I am sorry he is not likely to get that many former youth's that much better.

Overall, it was a toss up as to which team was more average on the night. Our midfield looks comfortable but we lack real bite up front. One day, the players will have it in themselves to take a game like that by the scruff of the neck.

Last night there was a tweet in which Evans said that Baz had got a knock on the knee and he and the club would be doing everything they could to get him fit for Saturday.
Better chance with a knock than a muscle strain and Fuller will do his best to make it I'm sure.

Nobbs, do you know which L1 team threw away a 2 goal lead at Tranmere this season?

Good person to ask. Nobby doesn’t miss that kind of stat.

Regarding Fullers knee injury. A fan on the Gas forums was saying Josh Hares injury looked to him like a knee rupture or ACL and said something like “that same part of our pitch caused injury for 2 fullbacks tonight”.

Were both injuries just due to turning and pitch related? I thought it was said Baz took a knock.

And did the pitch look a bit “iffy” at all? Hope Baz’s injury is not as bad as Josh’s sounds.

Good luck to both ?

Good point in the bank and another confidence booster ahead of facing the all-mulching Tractor Boys.

Good 2nd half tactical switch by the management and could have sneaked all three points. Really pleased to see young Tucker have such a fine game; he was doing all the little things so well and his passing accuracy was excellent. On the opposite flank it was a game of two halves as O`Connor was really impressive going forward in the second but was vulnerable defensively in the first. At only 18 he`ll undoubtedly get better and stronger and if his defensive game develops as promisingly as his attacking game then he has a great future. I hope that Tucker has convinced the management that he can perform when it matters, IMO he deserves to retain his place.

Well done to the Gills fans that made the trip. Advanced notification of iFollow coverage might have persuaded some (me included) not to go. Looking forward to Saturday`s game. We`ll be the underdogs but I fancy we could beat Big Tomas and his chums.

The pitch didn't look iffy but was very slick and the ball was skidding off the surface.
There were a few slips in the first half from Ogilvie, Fuller and Byrne but I'm pretty sure Fuller's injury came after a tackle. Maybe a clash of knees.

Hare's was after O'Connor fooled him with a lovely dummy and was most likely from turning or getting his studs caught in the ground.

Hope both players recover swiftly

We've seen before that talent alone is not enough, attitude and avoiding injuries are just as important.

Tucker at least seems to be one of the few young pros that Evans was happy to keep so presumably he sees something in him.

Liked this observation taken from twitter -

“So yeah...Our centre back will arrive at the far-post and have his shot saved, but don’t worry our full-back will be poaching in the six-yard-box to draw us level”

Wonder who was defending against a breakaway? Probably AJ and Hanlon ?

It is a fine line of course. While I feel that the likes of Connor Essam and Callum Davies could have possibly made it given the right conditions. IE playing with Adam Barrett and not Leon Legg for example. I hardly think that Davies or Essam could have done a job at full back on a league debut to such a high standard. The fact that Jack Tucker wasn't fazed by that fact that he was out of position is a major plus point for me.It would have made a good excuse for a poor performance.
Although it is always a risk .But given the return if Tucker does well it is a low risk as his wages will not break the bank anyway. Wait too long like with Eaves and the chance is gone.Word soon gets around especially with a good centre back or centre forward .

Callum is the cousin of one of my friends (from sittingbourne incidentally), it was a torrid time of injuries that killed it for him. He almost gave up on football had has since trained as a surveyor.

Connor (another Borden Grammar alum) had a good career and was offered another full time contract at Dover but is taking his exams to become a financial advisor so only wanted to go part time.

Both these lads have their heads screwed on regarding their future.

Sorry, I only specialise in hat trick stats and as we all know, there hasn't been one of those in living memory ?

Here’s one you can tuck away Nobby.

Apparently only 2 English born players have ever scored an EPL hat trick for Chelsea. One of them is our very own Gavin Peacock.

But then, you probably know that. These things never pass you by ?

(This snippet popped up on my Facebook this morning)

If Nibbles had posted this I would immediately assume it was a woosh and a deliberate mis-quote. In addition to Gavin Peacock both Frank Lampard and Tammy Abraham have scored EPL hat-tricks for Chelsea.

Actually you are quite right Bert. I think what came up in my Facebook feed about Gavin was probably an older post, prompted by Abraham’s more recent hat trick.

Nobby would have been all over it ?

Sounds like Josh Hare suffered an ACL injury. That’s no good. Best of luck Josh.
