League One Match Thread (09/04/24 - 10/04/24)

Do we want Barnsley to win draw or defeat? Defeat drags them into the fight for a spot but also allows Stevenage into it too!

Barnsley have a terrible run in and could be caught.
Stevenage will run out of games and would have to beat Oxford.

If we can catch Barnsley, then there are two play-off spots up for grabs. Still a long-shot, but stranger runs have taken place in the last 10 games.

Cheltenham have lost at home to Carlisle
They could be down before we go there a week on Saturday

Quick check and it’s not a great set of results for us!

Not so sure. Really didn't expect Fleetwood to get anything at Blackpool and if Stevenage keep themselves in with a shout with a win tonight, they'll be up for their visit to Oxford, which just might be of help to us.

We just need to win our games and if that happens, whatever else happens is irrelevant.

Our rivals do seem to be hitting a bit of form for the run in, lets hope we aren't starting to run out of steam. Some trickey games to come if we aren't on song.

Agree with this, while we have Stevenage and Blackpool both now a point behind, we have a game in hand and a much better goal difference. Stevenage's win keeps a stumbling Barnsley in play for us and Oxford.

Orient blew a 2 goal lead late on to draw and are out of contention.

Very much in our hands but need to be going to the crunch at Oxford on the back of a win on Saturday, when Oxford play the pish and could drop points.

Barnsley have seven points from their last seven games despite playing Carlisle, Cheltenham, Burton and Cambridge in that run; they have also conceded two goals per game. With Reading, Portsmouth, Blackpool and Northampton to play, they could be in real trouble.

Blackpool are somehow still in contention despite having scored just three goals in seven games. They go to Carlisle on Saturday, then Barnsley at home before finishing at Reading, whom we know are tough cookies at home.

Likewise Stevenage, who have scored seven in their last twelve games. Curiously, they could yet sneak in with homes against Burton and Cheltenham.

Some big results last night which hots things up a bit. For us nothing has really changed other than we now have a game in hand over those below and a free week running into Sat, which has hopefully allowed some of our injuries to heal and of course gives us total concentration on the next two cup finals. It’s great to be involved. Can’t wait for Sat. UTI 👊💥👏
