That’s the problem no wingers in our team

We have wingers in the team John, we just don't use them as wingers. Jamal Lowe is a winger and has been successful in that role for the past two seasons. Gavin Massey is a winger, but in our system plays inside. So its not that we don't have them, we just use them differently. Perhaps Cook watching Wales and the way Keiffer is utilised in their system may have a change of heart.

Well we can hope.:please:

If things were working as intended (and I accept they are definitely not) I believe the full backs should be providing that overlapping width as well, problem is they are being pinned back by superior opposition and on the few occasions they have got into decent positions their end product has often been disappointing.

Totally agree Arthur, the full backs are intended to give us that width but are failing to get forward. The problem has been that when they do get forward their end product is weak. Byrne has a tendency to go forward, stop short and pass sideways or back instead of having the confidence to take the full back on. Robinson loves to get forward and gets beyond his full back on a number of occasions, however his final pass is poor and very rarely finds its target. He is also prone to getting caught out, in his excitement to get forward he sometimes forgets his defensive duties. He is young and will no doubt learn that side of his game in the coming seasons.

It will be interesting to see what Cook (or the new bloke) does when Byrne picks up his next yellow as he's only 1 away from suspension.

The problem is we sacrifice our wingers to allow the full backs to get out wide and provide the crosses and the full backs aren't putting in enough good balls (Robinson does ok, but Byrnes crossing is poor). It also hurts us when defending as our wingers are tucked in so much that the opposition full back always has loads of time and space to join in on attacks and put crosses in unchallenged.

I think we'd be much better using our wingers as wingers, no problem with the full backs joining in and overlapping but the wingers needs to be out wide putting the corsses in as they do nothing tucked in and the balls from the deep crosses of the full backs generally don't get us anywhere.

Over the last couple of seasons Byrne and Massey seemed to have a decent understanding and when Byrne went forward Massey filled in, however this doesn't seem to be happening. Maybe this is due to Masseys fitness problems or a change in tactics but it isn't working and needs to be changed to get them both working together again. Funnily enough this was also when we seemed to get the best out of Byrne.
