Awesome film , very dark but it had to be really as that’s the character.

DC films tend to be a lot more darker than Marvel IMO, definitely worth a watch.
 
I don't usually go to the cinema but went there due to all the culture war fuss and thought it a fantastic film. If you go thinking it is about trying to give sympathy to crazy white men who are annoyed because they can't get a girlfriend then you'll be disappointed. If you see it as a film about someone mentally ill having their society support taken away due to austerity and finally snapping due to being kicked down once too many times by the rich then it is a fantastic parallel to many things happening in the US and UK.
 
I thought the story line superb, Joaquin Phoenix' acting top drawer (although he looked very similar to Jaz Coleman from Killing Joke), but the actual film pretty dull. Obviously, a build up to the sequel. A lot better, though, than a lot of the other superhero films
