Ivan Toney

Wrong! Grigg was fit and ready to go, it was the useless sod in charge holding a grudge because Grigg questioned his team selections.

Wrong! Grigg was carrying a knock that summer and at the start of the season and was slowly eased back in as was well documented at the time.

Correct Grigg did get a knock but was over it pretty quickly, yet the manager continued to select Toney in front of Grigg, when Grigg had a word the manager got the hump and wouldn't start him even when fit.

Don't believe everything that comes from the club bro, ive learned that over the years.

Not disputing your opinion on him stepping up, disputing what you said about every club getting rid of him is untrue.

James Vardy was once an L1 player - where you are today doesn't dictate your future. Strikers with 1 in 2 strike rates in L1 don't stay in that level very long.
Vardy was once in the Conference at Halifax. You would have thought we would have had
A scout watching him. He was scoring quite freely then. There are so many very good players to watch. Problem with Cook is that IF you have never played for him you have no chance. Time for the supporters to give him the Coyle, Mackay, Rossler, Joyce treatment.

Time will tell always thought there was a goal scorer there looks better bet than Lowe but at the end of the day needs to prove himself Looks like a different player to the one we had here

Looks like a different player to the one we had here.

He is John, a couple of years older, played more games and got more experience. Unfortunately when any player comes to Wigan they are expected to have that experience and hit the ground running or suffer the consequences of being labelled useless from the off.

Vardy was another we looked at and wouldn’t pay the money

If we go back to early to mid 80s, we were offered John Aldridge by Newport County and could've actually had him for £100...yes, hundred quid. We turned them down.

We were tight with Sean Gregan when we tried to sign him from Darlington. Preston jumped in and sorted him a house out as part of the deal...around £300,000. He became a stalwart for them and bossed us on many an occasion.

We have a history of being tight, and coming acropper because of it, and on the other hand blowing ridiculous money on duds.

Tav, for every Aldridge or Vardy you could point to a Valencia or Moses. All clubs are offered players and some turn out to be great buys some turn out to be duds. Its a game of chance. Do we take a chance on him or pass it up. That's what the successful clubs are all about, they are the ones that have been more successful in the transfer market than the others.

Take Hugill for example, we were prepared to take a chance with him, he didn't want to come for whatever reason, QPR got him and got him scoring, he could have come here and flopped, that's the chance you take. Its not all about the players ability, it can also be whether he settles in the area or into the club. It can also be about his personality and if he fits in with the other players in the dressing room or even as simple as does he impress the manager.

Its no use crying over spilt milk. Players can be successful or failures at any club and trying to compare how they would have done for us is meaningless as they never came. After all, we once made an offer to Guardiola, would he have been any better than what we had at the time...……. who knows.
