I think the Massey deal was done with the conference club before Cook arrived in fairness to him. Not sure about Toney but I'm guessing it was Cooks.

Ultimately we didn't spend a penny in the summer on transfer fees so it should be no surprise the ones we did break in aren't ripping up trees. However why he insists on playing them when they under perform most weeks is somewhat of a mystery when he has options in the squad.
