Injury Update

It's good to see all our returning lads being given time. A luxury not afforded many in recent years.

And this is the the problem now, luxuries ! Bunch of tarts. We need Men in the squad. This didn't happen back in 2010. Gnashers would shake his head in disbelief. Strange how they get injured in winter months too.

Kieth would soldier on regardless and GKF wanted to play with a badly damaged ankle, but that was then and we heed to manage what we have now.

Yes manage, not mollycoddle. Never known so many injuries still, getting paid for a couple of hours a day in the Gymn, nice way of life.

Neil Critchley has confirmed Matty Virtue will go for a scan on his knee, following the injury which forced him off in Saturday’s 2-0 victory at Oxford United.

The midfielder was substituted in the second half at the Kassam Stadium, and the Blackpool Head Coach confirmed he is highly unlikely to be involved in Tuesday’s match vs Peterborough United.

“Matty unfortunately had to come off on Saturday after the injury he picked up in the second half,” Critchley said.

“He felt he jarred his knee slightly as he was landing, and he’s now got some swelling around it which means he will need to go for a scan. He’s unlikely to be involved on Tuesday evening and we may have to investigate it further depending on what happens over the next 48 hours with some treatment.”

With Dan Ballard also unavailable for the Seasiders for the next two matches after being called up to Northern Ireland’s squad for their upcoming international games, Critchley has several selection issues. However, he has confirmed Daniel Gretarsson is likely to be involved on Tuesday evening, following his return from injury.

“Dan Ballard has gone away on international duty, so he’ll be missing this week,” Critchley said.

“Daniel Gretarsson will come back into contention after his injury. He missed Saturday’s match following the birth of his second child, so he’s ready to be involved if he’s called upon.

“Other than Daniel, it’s unlikely they’ll be anyone else pushing to be involved on Tuesday evening.”
