Neil Critchley has revealed that CJ Hamilton and Daniel Grétarsson are stepping up their recoveries from injury, having been sidelined since December and January, respectively.
The pair are progressing well with their rehab schedules and will hopefully be training with the rest of the squad again soon.
“CJ has been back out on the grass now for a few weeks. He’s been going fine so hopefully he can keep stepping up where he is and be able to integrate back into training at some point,” Critchley said.

“Daniel Grétarsson will also be back out on the grass this week. He’ll start to do some running, which will be great for him.”
Neither player will be available for the Seasiders immediate fixtures, while Gary Madine is expected to remain on the sidelines for the visit of Rochdale.
“Gary is getting closer, but probably not quite ready for Tuesday night, plus Keshi Anderson has been back in the building and it has been great to see his face again and have him around the training ground. He’s obviously not going to be ready for a little period yet, that’s for certain.
“Of the four, Gary is going to be the closest one, but we’re getting closer to getting some good news on the other ones as well.”

Neil Critchley has confirmed Marvin Ekpiteta will have a scan later this week to discover the extent of the injury which forced him off in Tuesday night’s victory over Rochdale.

The defender has started every league game so far this season, becoming a consistent performer for the side since his move from Leyton Orient in the summer. However, Critchley has confirmed the 24-year-old will now need to have spell on the treatment table.

“Marvin is still feeling his hamstring and is due to go for a scan on Friday,” the Blackpool Head Coach explained.

“We won’t know the results of the scan until Friday afternoon. Marvin has been exceptional for us this season. He has really grown into the role and settled into playing at a higher level. He’s been thriving in the team this season, so fingers crossed this injury won’t keep him out for too long and we can see him back out on the pitch soon.”

Hamstrings hate cold weather . It would be interesting to see how the incidence of such injuries vary according to the quality of a clubs training facilities.

Not good news on the Marv front....

Blackpool are likely to be without defender Marvin Ekpiteta for an extended period of time.
That’s according to head coach Neil Critchley, who revealed the club had received bad news from the 24-year-old’s scan on Thursday.
It comes after Ekpiteta, who had started every league game up until yesterday’s 1-0 win against Portsmouth, suffered a hamstring injury during last week’s 1-0 win against Rochdale.
“It’s not great news unfortunately,” Critchley told The Gazette.
“He’s going to be out for a decent period of time, it’s more like a CJ Hamilton and Daniel Gretarsson type of injury.
“It’s really unfortunate, it’s a big blow.

We need the Viking back. It's ok playing full backs occasionally but its got to be better to have players who are accustomed to playing in a position. Feel for Spud he's got better and better from a really shaky start to the season

CJ Hamilton is likely to return to one of Blackpool’s match-day squads in the “near future” according to Neil Critchley.

The winger has stepped up his recovery from a serious hamstring injury in recent weeks, having been out since mid-December.

Due to the nature of the injury, Hamilton is likely to be eased back into action, but Critchley admits that point isn’t too far away.

“CJ stepped up his training this week, so he’s been back in with the squad and trained which has gone well so far, he’s had no ill effects,” Pool’s head coach told The Gazette, speaking this morning.
“We’re hopeful that, if we can keep him on the training pitch, he’ll be back into one of the match-day squads in the near future.
“As for Gary Madine, he’s on the grass and I’ll be having a meeting shortly with the physios and the sports scientists to see what we do with him regarding tomorrow’s game (against Charlton Athletic).
“If there is a silver lining from Tuesday night’s postponement, it’s that those two have had a bit more time to recover, train or step-up their rehabilitation. But who knows if it will work in our favour until we get right into the thick of the games?

CJ Hamilton hasn't featured for Blackpool since December 19
“We’ve not really got into the routine of Saturday-Tuesday for a prolonged period of time yet, so we’re hopeful that will maybe play into our favour.
“But there’s been so many ups and downs this season and so many things that have come out of the blue, you try not to think too far ahead.”
Daniel Gretarsson is another player that is continuing his recovery from a hamstring injury, having not featured since January 9.
While the centre-back is making good progress, he’s a bit further behind in his recovery than teammate Hamilton.
“He’s back on the grass and running, but he’s probably a couple of weeks away from joining in with the group I would have thought,” Critchley revealed

Madine still some way off by the looks..

Neil Critchley has provided an update on both Dan Grétarsson and Gary Madine, as the pair continue their recovery from injury.
The pair haven’t featured for the Seasiders since January, but have now begun their rehabilitation to return to first-team action.
“Dan Gretarsson has been back in training for a week now,” Critchley said.

“We have to make sure we give him the right level of training, because a lot of the players are currently playing, resting, preparing and then playing again, such is the busy schedule we currently face.
“We have to make sure Daniel gets the right amount of training from a physical point of view and also individually to make sure he is ready if and when he is called upon. He’s had no ill effects since he’s been back in training, so he could get an opportunity to play soon.
“Gary Madine is taking a little bit longer than we hoped he would in his recovery. One day he feels ok, and the next he feels something, so we have to be cautious with him. We’re governed by Gary as well as the medical advice. He is an experienced player and knows his body better than anyone.
“Gary is a big help in and around the dressing room and on matchdays. He’s as frustrated as anyone at not being involved lately. We wany him back as soon as he’s ready, but at the moment, he’s not quite there.”
