Parade routes announced for Exeter Chiefs and Exeter City in the event of victories

Exeter City Council have announced plans for victory parades should Exeter City and Exeter Chiefs win their London finals this weekend.

The Chiefs take on Wasps in the Premiership final at Twickenham on Saturday whilst City face Blackpool in a League Two play-off final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday in one of the biggest weekends in Exeter sporting history.

It has now been revealed there are plans in place for open top parades should either Chiefs or City win.

The Council have confirmed that, if the Chiefs are crowned Premiership champions, they will travel on an open-top bus from St James's Park through the city centre on Bank Holiday Monday at 2pm, and to the Guildhall for a civic reception hosted by the Lord Mayor.

If City win, they will have a parade of their own the following day at 6pm, travelling the same route.

Karime Hassan, Chief Executive at the council, wished both teams well in their finals.

"This time last year we were busily putting in place the final pieces of the jigsaw for Exeter's Big Weekend. Some 50,000 people headed down in the sun to see some of the world's best bands perform whilst millions listened around the globe. Little did we know that exactly one year on – the city would once again be having a weekend that we'll be talking about for generations to come," he said.
