Momentum blasts Starmer over decision to welcome Elphicke

Momentum, a campaign group on the left of the Labour Party, said Sir Keir Starmer’s willingness to welcome Natalie Elphicke into the party showed that he had moved it too far to the right.
A spokesman for the group said: “Natalie Elphicke has consistently demonised refugees and aid groups.
“She voted against Labour proposals to outlaw fire and rehire, while supporting a wide array of destructive and damaging Tory legislation.
“She should have no place in a Labour Party committed to progressive values and working-class people. Sadly, Keir Starmer is taking Labour away from its core values, aping a failed Tory Party instead of offering a real alternative to it. More than ever, Britain wants change - but is being offered a two-party consensus instead.”

There they are lurking in the background..................
Are you agreeing with momentum? You know Starmer ignores or excludes them?

Except that with boundary changes and the swing required by Labour it is true. Plus there has been no scrutiny of Labour . Never has a party done so little to deserve a lead like this
thats certainly a slate of tory not labour tho and seems what we need for a decade, a quiet government

We as a country & Labour as a party should not give credence to anyone’s imaginary friends, it’s really time we stopped believing in magic books.
agreed, but at the same time they a a demographic of voters just as you and I are, soo they gonna speak to them until they are such a minority that it doesnt need to be done. It isnt just religion tho tbf, theres also traditions and culture etc that are welcome. I assume you still celebrate xmas

What you have to remember chap is that despite having been in power for the last 14-years, it's the woke liberal militant lefties that actually run this country and have stopped the stopping of the boats!

They just need another 14-years. Trust them; the plan is working and they're delivering for the British people.
Plus Labour would be the same. But different. And worse…

100 percent right. You really are a visionary. The left are completely imbedded in academia and the civil service.

A group can push and ‘demand’ whatever they like. Doesn’t mean they will get it but we should at least listen.
unless that group pushing are predominately Israeli and Zionist Jews demanding the labour party accept the IHRA definition of antisemitism for example? (what with 7 out of the 11 examples of ‘antisemitism’ it contains pertaining to criticism of Israeli Government and all!)

I think these are tricky times when it comes to making demands; at a time when Hamas accepts US / israeli terms for a temporary cease fire and Netanyahu and company refuse and instigate the attack on Rafah.

Would the IHRA antisemitism definition paint the deputy foreign Minister as an antisemite i wonder?

Starmers open arms welcoming of Natalie Elphicke to the labour party is bloody shameful. She was never even a centrist never mind a valid contender to be a part of the Labour party. Shows the lack of integrity when it comes to who he welcomes and who he is prepared to exclude from the party. Disgusting!

She's a right wing MP, not a war criminal

You can console yourself that it's just a short term gimmick to put another nail into the Conservative coffin. It's far more about what she says against the Tories than what she believes in or will do for Labour.

"Labour will retain their existing candidate in Dover and Deal at the next general election and Mrs Elphicke will stand down. The constituency replaces Dover, where Mrs Elphicke had a majority of 12,278 at the last election, following boundary changes."

She isn't going to be a Labour MP in a few months.
