Here we go!

is there a late rush of people who can all declare they are better off?

toms, are you not better off?
Over the last 14 years , yes I am. Sorry about that. Ups and Downs sure like everyone else. I cant believe anyone who would change to your lot to be honest. They offer nothing of consequence at all but apparently Daily Express readers think their lives will be materially better under Reevarmer. Without Reform though not looking good for us

that's interesting. would you mind if I asked which group you consider yourself to belong- retired, employed, business owner?

I see you acknowledge 'downs' but overall you feel 'up'. is that just a feeling or is there any basis in fact?

Personally? Me and the wife because we have no debt, the kids are off our hands and doing well, and all my mates at the golf club, all happy with smiled on their faces.

can we assume you are retired and therefore don't feel poorer because of the triple lock on pensions?

And as Tom's said, you ride the ups and downs and except that that is life. Inflation? covid and a war in Europe. Will voting Labour reverse the effects of those two factors? So called sleaze I am not really bothered about to be honest.

Compared to where I was in 2010, my income is up. Costs have gone up recently due to inflationary pressures which means things have got a tighter but we manage. Managed to save a bit along the years which has softened the blow. Made a couple of decent investments which assisted.

Overall, given what we've been through over the last 8 years feel more up than down now. Possibly if the war in Ukraine ends, there might be some clear blue water ahead

Happy with Brexit. Big Government and socialism is not my thing

I am retired yes, but obviously my kids aren't. I don't rely on a state pension either.

having an occupational or private pension would certainly help off-set food and energy inflation.

however, for the past 14 years your savings have been worth spit and your tax is still the highest since ww2.

that sounds honest enough although sounds more like treading water. plenty of folks still not quite back to where they were in 2010.

that last sentence tho chap- you don't like big govt or socialism but happy with brexit even tho all it has delivered so far is big govt and socialist level taxation.

care to elucidate?

Big government and taxation has flowed from Covid in the main and wars and pandemics have driven higher taxation. generally speaking Conservatives aspire to lower taxes

Well actually my savings in the main I have used to buy into investment trusts which have returned considerably more than spit, all in an isa so no tax whatsoever. Don't like to appear clever but you did make some statements that needed answering. I would guess that millions more people who have had to look out for themselves through the years are in a similar position and would never vote for a party that tends to give their hard earned to " the oat for noters". I wouldn't anyway.
