Wishing our Big Ron a very happy birthday as he reaches 79 years old today :126: :7:

I know for a fact Ron is a top man when as a mere 15-year old I was asked to go to Oxford United for a trial which lasted about 6 months and then they released me and that was that! (I should have tried other clubs but lacked conviction at the time)

Ron was in the last year of his playing career at Oxford and when he found out I was from Aston he took me under his wing and stopped some of the senior players from bullying me which seemed to be the norm in those days at the club and football in general......Thanks, big man and it's something I have never forgotten.

I know I should say Ron Saunders but I just loved going to Villa Park when Big Ron was boss.
