Duz tha remember the owd British Railways Footy Specials? Befoor them two snakes Beccham n Marples got their crusts together, Beeching to decimate the railways and Marples to head the Motorways construction. The pair of em med some reight backanders wi that little scheme, Politicians, as bent az an Arabs Dagger and so it continues! Befoor them two snakes tha cud gu anyweer on the owd Choo Choo, Midland and the owd Victoria station, travel a piece o piss. Even a trip ta Toytown from the owd Heeley Station dead andy, especially in the promotion season of 60/61. Boord the Choo Choo wi the lads but sadly no King o The Kop "Willy Ward" who,d just started work fer British Railways down
at the Midland Station n ad ta work, ah well eel bi wi uz in spirit. Set off from Heeley, pull in ta the Midland n surprise, surprise, theerz Willie in iz dezigner British Railways designer uniform complete wi waistcoat n shiny silver buttons sweepin the platform. Open carraige door n shout, "Naa den Willie gerrin ere n get theesen ta the match, so in a flash Willy puts iz brush up agee-anst a steel column n dives in wi uz. Off at Toytown n o,er the bridge ta Millmoor, reight laff when standin behind the goyle this biddy wi a boo-at race like a burglars dog, turns round n giz one o the lads a reight slap o the side of iz mush. Follered by, "Behave yourselves, we don,t swear in Rotherham!" Obviously she,d never bin ta the Grapes battlecruiser at Dalton Brook on a weekend. Kin ell! that joint med our base at Flax Street Mill in Belfast look like the Savoy! Final whistle, back on the choo choo, pulls in at the Midland weer Willie dives out, grabs iz brush which is still propped up just weer eed left it, then carries on duin iz Trigger impersonation. All wuz well that ended well, Blades won wi a late goyle from Len Allchurch which kept uz in line fer promotion and nobody ad missed Willie who definitely won the sweep! Thy az ta laff dunt tha!
