Blackpool will host Scottish Premiership champions Rangers in a pre-season friendly next month, as the Seasiders continue to gear up for the new season.

Steven Gerrard’s side, who secured a 55th league title in March, will travel to Bloomfield Road on Wednesday 21 July, for a match that will get underway at 7pm.

Further details surrounding the game, which will be the first meeting between the two teams since 2011, will be communicated in due course.
 
Rangers have asked their fans not to plan any trips to Blackpool or Merseyside for pre-season friendlies scheduled for next month.

The Ibrox men are due to take on Blackpool and Tranmere in friendlies before the league season kicks off, with one more game also to be announced.



But the club have urged fans not to make any plans to travel down south in the coming weeks with Tranmere confirming that only home fans will be allowed to attend.

That game at Prenton Park will be available to 3,400 Tranmere season ticket holders with Rangers not getting any allocation for the match.


It's unclear what will be happening with the game against Blackpool at Bloomfield Road but Rangers still want their fans to stay at home instead of travelling.
