Fulham left back 'attracting admiring glances'

Pompey are 'said' to be lining up a move for Fulham's young left back Sean Kavanagh.

Left backs are all the rage with Pompey at the moment it would seem!

Not only do we have one, and a former England international at that, in the shape of Nicky Shorey currently training with us we are being 'linked' with another one.

Well, at least these are the claims (as per my headline 'Fulham left back 'attracting admiring glances') from TalkSport...

These were made in connection with Sean Kavanagh, described as a 'starlet'.

Other thoughts about him that they shared were the 19-year-old is already an Under-21 international for the Republic of Ireland and has made the left-back spot his own in Fulham's Under-21 side.

As well as being a solid defender, Kavanagh is attracting attention thanks to his ability to combine that with his desire to get forward and deliver crosses.

Sounds impressive enough...

At the risk of sounding like a broken record I would still like to see Dan Butler given another run in the side but it has already been made clear by Richie Barker that he wants 'two players for each position' in his squad, so another left back does need to be decided.

Currently we have Marcos Painter under contract, but this contract does end next week I think so his place could be under threat from either Shorey or Kavanagh?

If they go through there could be 2 or 3 exciting signings. RB seems to be setting his sites a little higher than we've been used to of late.

Shorey all signed up till the end of the season!

I'm well chuffed, should provide a great mentor for Butler and give us some stability at the back

Today could be a pivotal day in our season. Shorey is a great catch. He might not have the legs anymore but he has a lovely left foot on him. Could be very useful for set pieces.
Jake Jervis is supposedly set to return too. Never got to see him, but I've heard good things. We've also lined up Ryan taylor, the Bristol City striker. So thats 2 strikers. Anyone else think this could spell the end of Connollys playing career?
