<p>Brilliant, a lesson in spin<br /><br /><strong>Uxbridge Gazette </strong><br /><br /><br />Former Manchester City and Fulham target signs for United<br /><br /><strong>Aug 16 2013 By Matt Lewis</strong><br /><br /><br /><strong>PHIL Babb </strong>has this week secured the services of a defender once courted by Manchester City and Fulham.<br /><br /><strong>The Hayes &amp; Yeading manager has agreed a loan deal for Stevenage right-back Anthony Furlonge until January 1.</strong><br /><br />Jack Mills has been operating on the right side of United&rsquo;s defence in pre-season but Babb has bolstered his options ahead of the big kick-off on Saturday against Bromley.<br /><br />Furlonge has been away on international duty with the Cyprus U21s, playing alongside former United striker Michael Thalassitis, but was due to return to the UK on Wednesday.<br /><br />Stevenage snapped up the youngster in April 2012 following the expiry of his youth deal at League Two side Southend United.<br /><br /><strong>It was at Southend where he attracted the interest of Roberto Mancini and Roy Hodgson in March 2010, however no Premier League move materialised.</strong><br /><br />Having come through the ranks at Millwall and Arsenal before moving to Roots Hall, the capture of Furlonge would represent a considerable coup for Babb.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;http://www.uxbridgegazette.co.uk/west-london-sport/hayesandyeading/2013/08/16/113046-33723821/</p><p>&nbsp;</p>
