Trying to play the form of cricket that the Hundred is attempting to make extinct and playing it in the most alien conditions, as in the sub continent.

What was ever going to go wrong?
 
Oh dear yet again.

I stand to be corrected but I don’t think we have batted our full 50 overs in this tournament so far
 
No proper preparation would suggest that we are not taking it as seriously as we should. If so that is a shame considering we are the current champions.
 
We seem very obsessed with playing far to many all rounders and not enough specialists which leaves the side unbalanced you might get away with it in some countries but not the sub continent
 
As the Hundred has already made our domestic 50 over competition in to a reserves league, I do wonder when countries will start playing the Hundred internationally.

Our test team is flourishing. We are World 20-20 holders, and we were also World Cup (50 over) holders.

Strauss and others are always formulating plans for County Cricket aimed towards a successful England side but then give the prime month for playing conditions (August) to a competition not played by nations.

Something had to give.
 
It seems they've wanted to squeeze all the old faces into the team. We've got 2 openers who have had good summers in the test team and both score quickly but neither are there and we're opening with 2 players who aren't openers!

Agree with this. Had a kind of last hurrah feel to the selection. If you are pinning your hopes on Moeen to turn the performance around then I think all the selectors need to have a look at themselves. There’s a few who will be too old for the next one so maybe at least get some younger players in now. And maybe free up August for competitive cricket rather than sponsor driven range hitting tournaments
 
Once again lost a game this time against the Aussies and still couldn’t bat out 50 overs, final humiliation will be Netherlands I presume
 
Probably picked the right tournament to miss out on as India are clearly going to walk it in home conditions.

They have won 7 group games out of 7 and have just routed the team second in the table - South Africa - by bowling them out for 83. They also bowled out Sri Lanka for 55.

Maybe our 129 all out against them was not quite so pathetic.
 
The thing is gbn South Africa will make the semi finals and we are bottom of the table. We need to finish in the top eight just to qualify for next year's champions trophy. We have simply been abject I'm afraid.
 
Comfortable 160 run win against Netherlands today. Pakistan next, at least we some involvement with who qualifies and who doesn't.
