Dani Alves joining PSG?

It would seem that we are on the cusp of our first genuine snub of the transfer window.....

At 34 and at the tail end of his career might we have dodged a bullet (given the speed of the PL) or missed out on a player who would have significantly added a dimension to our play next season?

The image below shows Alves posing with PSG's Marquinhos. They look very happy.

I think you are right Buzz. Whilsthe is undoubtedly a quality player my overriding concern has always been the pace of the PL and the 'adaptation' period that some player have. He will have an easier time of it in France but I would love to know the nature of his conversations with his old manager Guardiola.........I reckon Pep is feeling a bit let down

Little toerag if he's given Pep assurances and then reneged on him without having the courtesy of informing him.

At 34, would he be guarenteed a place every every week? Imo he shouldn't, IF we get walker he must be 1st choice, and can you see Alves 1st choice at PSG? I can't, so he's got his paycheque, but game time? Is doubtful at 34,is he better than Zabba who was 2 yrs younger? Think we dodged a bullet there if the stories are true...

Reports of Pep being livid but I have not seen any direct quotes so they seem to be only assumptions

It wouldn't surprise me. Of course I don't know for definite that's what happened but it's how it seems. A **nt's trick from Alves.

There's been reports in Italy that we're now turning our attention to Danilo. Chelsea allegedly targeting him too so again City's name may just be being used as negotiating tactic.

No **cking idea.

WTF is it with our inability to recruit top quality defenders?

because they up the asking price just for us, I would seriously consider using F25, but the window is open for a fews still and anything could happen.

Kelechi to Spuds, but the catch there would be a the buyback clause plus the price of Walker in the first place.

I was never excited at the prospect of an old stager like Alves who, if he had come, would only have been a short-term fix. But I am getting twitchy about the lack of activity although I saw on SSN last night that Mendy could be inching closer.

Suspect that if we'd have signed him then it would be perceived as being a good thing - would have liked to have seen him passing on his wisdom to a younger right back but imagine we'd still have been after another right back even if he'd signed. I'm thinking Maicon...

The Mirror have the story on why we were snubbed.

If that is true (and it is the Mirror...) then good luck to him and PSG - I imagine we can use the £12m more constructively by spending it elsewhere.

The Express says we pulled the plug refusing to meet a £25 pay packet - at that age you go where the money is, I mean how anyone live on less than £150K a week bets me :002:

I am sure it is much appreciated by Pep and he willbe buoyed up by your press conference comment....
