BBC gushing that they made over £700K, "a massive amount for a non-league team" and "makes such a difference to them". Really started to piss me off that an amount that took a team 8 games to earn, an amount that can help them survive for several seasons, is an amount that some premiershit players earn in a year. Yes, Maidstone are a non-league team however that sort of amount could make a massive difference to teams in L2 or even L1. Lower league and grass roots football is desperate for money to survive while Sky and the BBC are happy to let them burn in favour of the PL. The fact that Maidstone achieved what they did (including galvanising the whole town) , and they're not the first, shows how much could be achieved with proper apportionment of money down the football pyramid.
