City Gossip

Getting round to throwing out the weekly 'The Verdict' Monday morning Mail supplements.

For their start of the season predictions. 8 out of 9 predicted City to retain the title; three had the top four correct, of which two had the right order; all nine had two of the three relegation places right, although the majority went for Huddersfield/Cardiff; only three nominated Villa for promotion - other calls were in the frame or nowhere near (Boro, Stoke); all were wrong on the CL winners (7 went for Juventus, 2 for City); but, finally, a nod to Ian Ladyman, who predicted City would win the league and FA Cup.

The fact that we have lost McManus and Parris although we have signed replacements and we could be struggling next year as the new signings last season were not as good as we expected.

The added spice this coming season is the emergence of a newly formed and newly promoted Stretford Women's team who ran away with the lower league prize FFP skulduggery or good housekeeping, I am not sure there is a transfer market involving a fee, when anyone moves there is no mention of money and city have lost some fine players to Lyon, the Queens of European Football.

don't you just hate the closed season, not even any transfers to get you teeth into, roll on the friendlies and Englands games next week.
