Cisse part 3

Thought he did ok alongside remy yesterday. Made the keeper make saves when he got in the box. With a bit more luck could've had a couple of goals.
Until pardew gets the midfield right in games then the strikers and defenders are going to struggle. Playing strikers (hba and goufran) in front of full backs only an idiot would do. You need proper midfielders in wide positions or less attacking full backs, having both the opposition will suss you straight away.
Going back to cisse he seemed to create a lot of goals for himself when he first came, a bit like remy is doing now, if remys goals dry
up in the second half of the season will that make him shit, OM?
Just asking like.

For the whole of last season we were shit, clueless coming forward and creating, until we have a team consistently playing well and creating countless chances for him then I'm not prepared to write him off. He's no doubt suffering his worst crisis of confidence since he's been here and at the moment I'd drop him and play Gouffran with Remy. His worst asset is the ease he gets knocked off the ball, a decent coach may have had him working on his upper body strength by now.

Anyone wishing to discuss this man now?

He's fucking gash and has been since day one.

easy....easy you are giving gash a bad name.
:17: tough to watch him. I wonder what we would be
if cisse had left for Chelsea and ba had stayed.

I'm not prepared to write him off just yet but I think it's time to drop him. I'd be playing Remy with Ben Arfa behind. Free Ben Arfa from the responsibility of covering attacking full backs and make the most of his talent.(As any decent manager would be)

I'm still inclined to defend Cisse.

When he has done well, he was alongside Ba or Shola.

He is a striker who needs to receive the ball facing goal, either from wide or on a diagonal run. The type of service he has received, when he has received it, does not suit his strengths.

If you want to get the ball up quickly from a full back or central defender, buy a Billy Whitehurst. If you don't buy a Billy Whitehurst, get the ball forward quickly to feet.

Agreed. His game has less dimensions to it than the Ba's and Remy's of this world, so if you do play him you have to play to his strengths, otherwise he just becomes a passenger and would obviously lose confidence.

Since Ba threw his toys out of the pram summer 2012, Pardew's understanding of his game has shown to be pretty much zero, and his handling of him, shocking. He's obviously completely devoid of confidence, but to play him game after game with little or no ammunition, and then when he did get a goal, to drop him next match is just bizarre management.

When Keegan bought Cole, he had a vision of the way he would play his team, the supply that Cole would be given, safe in the knowledge that Cole would tuck them away. If he'd bought him, then done what Pardew did, Cole would have disappeared without trace. That wouldn't have made Cole a shìt player.

I have no idea why Pardew plays Cissé, bearing in mind his approach. He's either THAT stupid, or does it purely because he feels he needs a striker on the pitch as well as Remy, and plays him in spite of what his eyes should be telling him.

The whole Wonga/Casino debacle put me right off him . As a player I'd like to see him play under another manager before I'll write him off though I will concede he looks a shadow of the player (though has any player improved under Pardew?) that first came here .

Boiling it down to stats across his career (and taking into account his poor form last and this season) he scores a goal once every 2.3 games . Which is still pretty decent .

Been gash since day one? He was fucking brilliant from day one until about day 125. However, since then he's been quite poor. At the minute he's offering nothing to the team and probably needs to be relegated to the bench. Maybe he's agreed to wear the Wonga shirt on the condition that he doesn't score. I'd play Remy in the middle with Ben Arfa on the right and Gouffran on the left. As long as Ameobi doesn't get back in the team.

That would make sense if he wants people to lose interest in Wonga.

He is in my opinion and have said this for ages a secondary striker, needs a powerhouse alongside him.

His confidence is shot to pieces. I agree it was bizarre when he finally scored a goal he was dropped for the next match. Not very bright Mr Pardew!!!
Goal scorers need service and he simply is not getting enough service. When he arrived he seemed to get a lot of service and manufacture his own goals ah la Wonder goal against Chelsea.
As mentioned by Platinii Andy Cole would not be the player he was without the service he got from Peter Beardsley. Cisse seems to have grasped the off side rule now which was so bloody frustrating last season. However goal scorers are judged on goals scored and he simply is not scoring at the moment. A spell on the bench or in the reserves might give him the kick up the backside he needs.
I don't agree he is gash. He is going through a lean spell although will come good.

At the end of the day, Cisse is a £9m or so striker with the attributes that he has. When you look down the list of Premier League strikers, Torres, Rooney, van Persie, Carroll, Bony etc etc cost a lot more.

If you don't play to his strengths, the gulf is going to be exaggerated.

I like Cisse but how long does Pardew give him before he drops him. He has scored only 8 league goals in 43 games which is terrible.

Maybe if we had of played to Andreas Anderson's strengths then he would've been better too. Some times you've just got to admit you have a lame animal on your hands.
