Carolyn Dumbleton - Collection

Casperimp

Vital 1st Team Regular
A nice touch my the club.

I think many of us have used the Back of the Net chippy on the corner Cross Street and Scorer Street quite a lot over the years.

I am sure all of our thoughts are with her and her family after her awful bike accident that has left her in a coma I believe.

This was the last update from carolyns daughter last night

UPDATE ON MY MUM: So it is tonight that with a very broken heart I tell you that even though my mum put up the fight of her life her she simply isn’t going to wake up. All the tests have been done and all the results reviewed by all the specialist drs and they have said that due to the injury in her neck and spinal cord that caused the cardiac arrest her brain was simply starved of oxygen for to much time and therefore she is not able to wake up. Tomorrow we will go up to the surgery wing and her life support will be removed and it is then that she will be able to pass away peacefully and unaware, when the time finally comes me and my family will be there with her to say our final goodbyes and afterwards she will be taken into theatre where an organ retrieval team will perform the operation to donate her organs and tissue to help save many other people’s lives, my mum has always expressed this wish to be an organ donor and I’m proud of her for helping other people in such a tragic time. Again me and my family would like to thank everyone for all their continued support and messages they are very comforting and also thank you to all family and friends for your continued support we will never be able to thank
You enough. Please if you can do one thing for me it is to treasure what you have and tell the people you love that you love them whenever you get chance because you never know what’s round the corner xxx

Absolutely awful news! She was always so friendly when we went in to get our fish ans chips.

RIP

As cyclists we are faced with putting our lives at risk on busy and fast roads or dealing with horrendous pot holes on the back roads because these are never repaired. Pot holes damages cars and kill or seriously injure cyclists. Rest easy Carolyn Dumbleton - may the wind be forever behind you.

100% agree and a lovely tribute to her.

How very very sad. What an amazing tribute from her daughter aswell. Extremely pragmatic considering the circumstances. There is no bitterness in her words and ending with some very wise ones aswell. RIP x

Goodness that is unbelievably sad news. Such a heartfelt message from her daughter to talk about organ donation at this time. I hope it encourages more to sign up to blood and organ donation, it's the least we can do as a caring society but how many really bother to do it?
RIP Caroline.

Its heartbreaking to hear this news about Carolyn. I haven't been in that chippy for a while but I know how popular it is with both home and away fans.

Makes you realise just how suddenly things can be taken away from you.

Agree with others, it's terrible news.

I go in there sporadically during the football season and one of the things that always struck me was that it felt like popping into a friends kitchen to grab some food rather than a chippy, if that makes sense? Everyone knew everyone and happy to chat.

No doubt it'll continue to be as well supported as it always has been down the years.

Only saw her last Saturday opening up at the chippy , lovely people always friendly and chatty ,so sad , lovely words from her daughter

Echo these sentiments. The service at the chippy was fantastic and so efficient. Puts things into perspective. RIP.

Calling at the chippy on a Saturday lunchtime has always been part of the pre-match ritual.
And undoubtedly Carolyn has been so welcoming to all customers since running the chippy.
Will be a sad occasion when i make my first visit of the coming season. Hopefully will be able to make a donation then.

It was on the Radio 4 PM programme news just before six o'clock. Apparently Derbyshire council have now filled the pothole. Too little...
