They will meet a couple of old opponents then in that league, Darwen and Nelson.
(That's if they ever did meet Darwen or perhaps Darwen had been and gone from FL before Bury first joined) (and before someone says it, yes, like Bury, Darwen are a phoenix club).
The only Football League season in which Bury and Darwen played each other was 1894/95 (Division Two).

Likewise, Bury and Nelson only met for one season in the Football League - 1923/24 in Division Two.

Three promotions up, they might meet our neighbours Gainsborough Trinity plus Stalybridge Celtic, and another phoenix club, Scarborough.
Four promotions up, and its a bunch of old opponents awaiting them.
As it stands, York, Boston, phoenix Chester, Gateshead, phoenix Darlington, Southport, Kidderminster, phoenix Hereford, phoenix Bradford (Park Avenue) (unless they've gone down).

Five promotions up...well National League Premier by then so mostly ex-League and who knows who'll be in it by then!

On the theme of the 'original' Bury and their fine owner.

3 burglars convicted at Chester Crown Court on Monday, they targeted the posh areas of the north west including Raheem Sterling's house. Amongst other offences they stole but abandoned £500k worth of watches from a certain Mr Dale. Clearly doing well out of his asset stripping, shame he wasnt also in the dock.

Yes I was thinking that, so has Dale got away with everything scot-free then?

I see Bury are ground sharing with Radcliffe Borough, is it a temporary thing or will Gigg Lane eventually rehouse this Phoenix club? 🤔

How many frigging watches did he have?
Were there boxloads of Delboy type knock off ones?
Or just a few ridiculously expensive gold ones?
Or was he making the claim up maybe??

They say they'll reapply for 20/21.......!!
It's actually worse than that - The FA and its Alliance Leagues Committee (ie the National Leagues) "recognise the history and standing of Bury FC. As a result, the ALC would welcome an application from the club to join the National League System for the 21/22 season and detailed guidance has been provided in relation to the various conditions that would be expected before one could be considered"

So having cheated, gone bust, been kicked out of the EFL, a club that won't have played for the best part of two seasons is being welcomed/.encouraged by the National League. Presumably they'll be placed in NL North. One despairs

The only saving grace is that bit about the various conditions that would be expected before one could be considered.

Quite clever on the part of The FA and Alliance Leagues Committee - on the one hand being seen as sympathetic to the plight of a 'great old club' but safe in the knowledge there is a snowball's chance in Hell of Dale actually meeting even the simplest of conditions.

That is a real work of literature. Ranting about Bury fans, the previous owners, the EFL, MPs, the phoenix club, the police, social media and anyone else he can think of. The National League should publish its requirements to remove any doubt as to where the blame for oblivion rests. Kieran Maguire referred to him as a scumbag again this week, and coined an interesting phrase in a tweet - worth finding, but it cannot be posted on here!
