Burton Albion (a): What 3 Things Do The Imps Need To Do To Win?

1. Play with energy and intensity from the start. The last two home games have seen quite slow starts to the game by us. That seems to have often been the case when we have been playing at home and the opposition looks to keep it tight. This can result in our attacks at times becoming ponderous and obvious. However we have the ability in the team to attack with great speed of thought and skill, attributes which were very much on display in our last away game at Cambridge. Bring that level of energy to the game from the kick off at Burton and we will stand a very good chance of 3 points come 5pm.

2. Stop the crosses at source. The loss against Ipswich came because we failed to cut out a cross from out wide. Rotherham caused us similar problems days before. Burton are likely to play with wide midfielders and have Hemmings through the middle and he is capable in the air in a similar way to how Taylor was for The Millers and Bonne for Ipswich. So we need to ensure that the service to him is stopped at source. This will involve all players assisting our full backs.

3. Put Burton's defence under pressure. Saturday will be the first time that we supporters will have had to give Michael Bostwick the deserved standing ovation for his years with us. Every Lincoln supporter appreciates what he did for us in those 3 seasons. If anyone going on Saturday even thinks that as an ex-player he should be booed they need to give their heads a proper wobble. But there is a reason that Bossie didn't get another contract 18 months or so ago. He is 33 now and is susceptible to injury and attacking him with pace can be the way to beat him as a defender. We know that a lumped ball into the box will be meat and drink to him, but getting him on his toes and having to deal with play on the deck is the way to get past this giant of a man.
