Best cafe in Medway?

Only been in Medway 4 years but my favourite is the Eel Pie Cafe in Gillingham for Pie and mash ( ok double pie and double mash). Anyone else got a favourite?

Not sure if the Tuck Inn counts as Medway, but it has always been worth a little trip out there on occasion... Either that or Piggys in Chatham, but that's more out of brand loyalty.

Only been to a couple of cafe in Medway but would recommend the cafe near toysrus, fairly cheap and do some good foods.

Piggys is good but I feel like there portion size are huge and tend to have to leave some. But if you can eat a lot a good place to go.

You say that like it's a bad thing mate!

The one by Casino used to be brilliant .... 10-15 years ago when I lived in Strood. Was open until very late as well. It was really the only one i've been into in Medway. Not a clue what it was called though or if it's still open or not now. No doubt was closed due to hygene reasons back in the 2000s....it wouldn't surprise me....but it did taste good.

Can never understand people that moan about portion sizes being too big as if it's a negative. For those that enjoy bigger portions it's great (I only ever go to a cafe when i'm hung over or need a settler before a big day on the beer - so always want big portions then!).

And more importantly, for those that don't want to eat it all, the simple option is to just not eat it all and leave it. How does that affect your experience negatively? Are you morally against any sort of waste? or do you have OCD about finishing your plate? Not sure having too much of something that I can easily leave would bother me, but each to their own and all that!

Remember Dans, opposite the old Rochester Market. It was an all-niter back in the late 60's, handy if you wanted to keep out of the way of the OB.

The Station cafe in Sittingbourne is great for Breakfast. Used it every weekend till I ran off to Manchester last September.

Who remembers the one in Rochester, near the car park by the Casino? Yikes.

The Market Caf, surprisingly.

God awful place that was shit at everything to do with catering.

Shame that Ray's Diner ended. Had many a good breakfast in there on a Sunday morning.

Anybody been to Nell's diner just off the M2, around gravesend? Have always driven past it since I was about 6 and never gone in. Have recently started taking my kids to Cascades in Gravesend occasionally on a Sunday as they love the flumes and wouldn't mind stopping off at a cafe on the way back if it was reasonable.

The Oasis cafe opposite the co-op off the high street. Fantastic entertainment value - so shit it's funny. Such a shit hole with filthy cups and cutlery - cup of coffee was covered in ketchup! Full English breakfast was about 3! I had some friends come to the Millwall game - fairly posh boys relatively speaking. They were treated to the sights of Gillingham High Street, highlight being a chav bowling down the high street with headphones on singing 'my heart will go on' at the top of his lungs and the shenanigans during after the game. Fair to say they got a true flavour of what Gillingham is all about.

I've been to Nell's a few times and it's always been consistent, went ther last year and it was the same, clean, good food and plenty of it. Certainly somewhere where you could take your kids so worth a go

Used to like the one in Batchelor Street Chatham. Can't really use them anymore as I'm too fat.It was fine when I was active, now I am not I am paying the price.

Re over large portions (if there is such a thing) I'd agree with AK here. Either leave it or ask them to swap an item you don't want for an extra cup of tea or coffee. As the cafes we're talking about are more greasy spoon than Starbucks they are hardly likely to refuse your request.

Once, just once, I would like to go to one of those mad places with the eat it all and it's free type competitions, but the last one I heard of was in Bolton and I don't fancy the trip back with all that on board. Where's the smileys? I can't see the smileys!
